I need help, high idle.

Hey, guys my fd starts at 3800k at cold start, and when its warm it would still stay at 3800k. My fd doesn't have the aws or the double throtte. Also when i disconnect the hose of the pressure sensor it would idle down to 1.5k. Could it be the erg valve that sticking open? Any advice would help thanks.

MOds are - Apexi Commandor, downpipe, Resonated midpipe, and exhaust.

Is there any slack on the throttle cable?

fd3sbeantown 11-04-07 11:37 AM

Its pretty tight.

If your throttle cable is tight I would try loosening it up a little and seeing what happens. Have you worked on the car recently. About 4 years ago I did some work on mine and had a high idle (almost 4krpm) for several months before I realized somehow the cable was too tight, but loosening it fixed it.

^ how did you tolerate an idle of 4krpm for months? car not driven much?

fd3sbeantown 11-04-07 09:58 PM

Yea i haven't driven the car in months. Ill try losing the cable tomorrow.

fd3sbeantown 11-04-07 09:59 PM

is it supposed to have slack?

Nate8811 11-05-07 06:29 AM

Yes, throttle cables are supose to have to have a little slack....what you want to do is adjust it for the best throttle response....I did that for my honda and its quite snappy haha!.

Make sure the butterflies (or throttle plates) are fully closed. I had a similar problem and it turned out to be that. The wax rod kept the bottom butterfly open, causing my high idle.

It could be a bad TPS or ISC. Also, you can adjust the idle by adjusting the idle screw or the fine adjustment screw which is the throttle body.

Also check for vaccuum leaks after the throttle body. My PCV popped off and made a large enough leak to give me a high idle, but I dont remember how high.

when you tap the throttle does the idol go back down to norm.?

fd3sbeantown 11-05-07 06:10 PM

nope the it would stick at 3800k.

fd3sbeantown 11-05-07 06:13 PM

I don't have a vacuum leak.

fd3sbeantown 11-05-07 06:13 PM

How do i take off the throttle is it just the 4 bolt on it?

mono4lamar 11-05-07 08:06 PM

^ Yes, the throttle body is four nuts...
