I hate non sequential

My sequential FD seemed to be so much more driveable and fun than my non which i have now.

I used to be able to nip round roundabouts in second with the backend flying out with lots of low tourque, with my non id have to be doing about 4500 rpm to make it step out, which i dont fancy at all as id be going to fast.

Shame Shame

What are the advantages supposed to be again???????????????

reliability in the sense that they are easy to work with and diagnose problems with. if you don't like it, go back to sequential. if you don't want to, go with a single turbo.

trainwreck517 Jan 15, 2007 01:41 AM

Why did you go non-seq? Seq is really fun for street driving.. Although I really like the non-seq system because it has a nice linear power band.. and I don't have to worry about my ass kicking out when I Auto cross, or track days when the secondary kicks in...

I can get 10psi by 3400rpms, and 12psi by 4k... And start to build boost by 2krpms and really love the non-seq setup.. But I do miss that instant boost at low rpms... but not a big deal though.

And I can kick out my ass any in the corners if I really want to... even with my r-compounds.. But the question is why would you want to?

Anyways.. just got back to seq, or go with a small single turbo .. BB 60-1.. Gt35r...0.82/0.86 A/R housing.. etc.

I'm gonna run non-sequential for a little bit, just to see what it's like. I don't enjoy tearing the top end of my engine apart every few weeks to see which solenoid is fucking up on which day.

Thats why I just replaced both, havent had a problem. ;)

Speedworks Jan 15, 2007 02:13 AM

shift down.

spandy Jan 15, 2007 02:36 AM

What really is the point of going non-seq? Doesn't it take a hell of a lot longer to make boost? If so I would assume this would be good for a track situation as you would probably want to stay on top of the rpms and in the power band, but crap for the streets.

DriftDreamzSS Jan 15, 2007 02:44 AM

kick the clutch

Speedworks Jan 15, 2007 02:57 AM

Just go check for yourself how much time you spend with the car under 3000-3500 rpm. Only in the city or short turns. The only reason you want to have quick boost is probably to show of the car can drift or the make people know your car has a dump valve.

You spend much more time on the open street or highway hitting rpm's higher than 3000-3500rpm, hitting boost fast enough for easy or 'spirited' driving.

Otherwise, shift down more regulalry, it isn't an automatic you know...

snub disphenoid Jan 15, 2007 04:35 AM

I do like the torque of the car when it's running non-sequential. Going 60mph in 5th, then flooring it and getting to 70mph in less than 2 seconds is handy.

Did you do the poor mans version or something? 4500 is way too late unless you messed something up.

MisawaJason Jan 15, 2007 08:36 AM

Makes me think twice about doing the N/S mod and just keep them seq. until I go single

Either that or he kept the main cat.

I kepy my main cat and im non seq, i see full boost around 4500 myself.

Makes city driving a true pain.

TheWoganSleeve Jan 15, 2007 03:07 PM

I aint looked as im lazy but i was told both cats have been removed and its damn loud, teh car does boost before 4500 but no where near as nicely with the seq setup

Laziness=Problems bound to occur..

MADDSLOW Jan 15, 2007 03:19 PM

How much boost are you getting before 4500? When I had a shop do my conversion, they had forgotten to weld the flange open, and I wouldn't get more than 2-3psi before 4500, then it would shoot up to 10 in an instant. Maybe you should go over the conversion and make sure everything was done correctly?

Speedworks Jan 15, 2007 04:24 PM

when goin non seq it's beneficial to ahve an aftermarket DP, CB at least and intakes. Streetport will help a lot also.

Don't think just going non seq without the rest will bring you the holy grale of boost. Otherwise Mazda had done it in the first place.

tragic00 Jan 15, 2007 04:27 PM

its all about reliability with rotaries man. with a non seq setup you go from like 70 hoses to 7, its so much easier to work with, and it has the reliability like a single turbo. i drift my car at events and instant boost seems necessary to be capable of drifting in an instant, but when it comes to driving like that its just you got to know how to drive it, if your under 4500 rpms when your entering a turn clutch kick or e brake its not like you gotta power over on every turn, theres a lot of perks for non seq setup. my friend is making almost 400hp on his non seq setup on stock turbos, they can handle boost a little better too.

TheWoganSleeve Jan 15, 2007 06:44 PM

Ah right my car has all the mods mentioned to help with the non seq
and i do understand the reliability issues, its just from a day to day point of view my car is so loud id like low rev action so people dont hear me turn watch me screaming sideways with slots of noise and smoke around town etc then report me to the police for driving like a twat, which they wouldnt do if it was done in a gentlemanly way,

I suggest dont change until you start having problems, my last rd was non and i done 4000 miles in the month i had it with nay probs.

cheeky slide cheeky slide (y)

TheWoganSleeve Jan 15, 2007 06:45 PM

sorry my last fd was seq not a non

My 02 CRV (bone stock) will do that ;)

Well look under the car, you'll know for sure if both cats are removed. At least you can eliminate that as a potential factor in why you're boosting at 4500rpm.
