I dont know where my coolant went!

i drove my car to school this morning and everything was fine
got out and walked away and everything was perfect
then i got back to my car like 5 or 6 hours later and the AST and water pump housing is completely empty and it looks like the overflow tank is too

what the hell is going on?!?!
i looked all over and i couldnt find any traces of leaked coolant anywhere

could it be that the thermostat needs to be replaced?

it seems as though all my coolant just up and dissappeared!

someone please help me asap cus now i'm stuck at school!

Did you flush the coolant recently? If it wasn't completely burped the air could just have gotten to the top of the system.

Did you check the ground under the car? Do you see any traces of dried coolant (white residue)? It could have boiled over then evaporated.

If everything seems fine, you can always just top the system off with water. Just pray that the car fires up (if it doesn't that could mean bad things).

it all fires up and everything...but i flushed the coolant october of last year and have been driving it ever since...no coolant residue outside but it did rain pretty hard so it could have been washed away
but there was no smell of burnt coolant or anything not when i left the car either
and no residue in the engine compartment either

you think it could still be that it wasnt burped properly?

and the car fires up and runs fine

Just keep topping it off and monitor your temps and see what happens. It takes a lot of burping to get the water filler neck to stay at the top, during each heat cycle air is "burped" to the top resulting in the level of the coolant going further down the filler neck.

Just top it off and keep an eye on it.
