How soon is too soon?

There is a '94 Touring for sale that has ~44k on the chassis. It also has a rebuilt engine on it with only 12k on the odometer. Why would the engine have to be replaced at 32000 miles? That seems a little early for detonation don't you think? I understand that these engines have to be religiously maintained, but it doesn't seem like 32,000 miles is enuff to really cause that much damage, unless there was some sort of castasrophe. Should I stay away from this one?

I wouldn't stay away.. but i would be careful..

It probably blew up because someone didn't know how to tune it.. Only way to know is to ask.. and tell us what he said.. we can tell you if it is plasable..

Correction: These engines w/ turbos need to be religiously maintained. Take the turbos off of your 13B and I guarantee it will outlast you with just oil changes every 3K mi. If it has a 5-speed and the price is under $14K, then I would snag it in a heartbeat.

that car is worth more than 14k

I could pop a motor in a hundred miles...lol

not that I would ever want to do that :)

if the car looks great...drives great...and has good compression then its a keeper...nothing wrong with rebuilt motors as long as they were done right.
