How to separate steering column?

Hey guys, Did a search but came up short. I dont want to break the tabs so I thought I would ask rather than force it. Can someone give me a quick How To in order for me to take the top portion off the steering wheel column so I can install my Column gauge pod.

Thank!

There are 2 screws under the column. Just undo those and seperate the column and your done.

Ya I think he's got that part, the tabs hold it together pretty good sometimes. Take a thin flathead screw driver and use it to seperate the two peices, doing this they SHOULD just pop apart but if it is still holding slide the screw driver until you find one of the tabs and lightly push it backwards so it will let go.

IIRC it's actually 3 screws. All easily visible if you look underneath though.

push the bottom half in a little so you dont break the tabs.

If the column gauge pod you bought doesn't have place for the pins, you'll have to break them anyway. ;) The reason I say that is there are a few versions of column gauge mounts around. Some of them don't have any tabs or anything to mount them to the bottom portion, they just "sit on top" and you have to fasten it somehow yourself.

I can't remember if its 2 or 3 screws anymore. I haven't taken off the column in a couple of years. But like you said they are easily visible underneath the steering column.
