How to replace egr and o2 sensor? CA car
 

I just did a search but wasnt able to find anything out. I need to replace my egr valve and o2 sensor, I have a o2 socket and my car is stock. It is the cali. car so the egr is a little different. My goal is to remove them and replace with the oem parts( which i have). Please let me know whats the best method for this.

take of the old parts and put on the new parts? what exactly are you asking? if you have the new parts, what's the problem?

check the factory service manual if you need help removing the intake piping, y-pipe, and other crap that might be in the way

i should add that both of these aren't really too hard to get to...just make sure you let the car cool down first because it gets hot as hell down there

i was just wondering what all should be removed? like y pipes and all i dont want to take to much out

EGR and O2 Sensor replacement
 

My friend and I just did this. With everyting so tight in the engine bay we weren't able to replace the EGR without removing the Y-pipe. To remove the Y-pipe we had to drop the downpipe (to get to the nuts holding the Y-pipe).

Rule of thumb, remove whatever you need to get the job done. Most of the time I probably remove more than some people would. However, if it makes it easier for me to do the work, then it's beneficial.

It seems that I'm just the opposite. I seem to have a mental defect that makes me want to remove the absolute minimum to do the job, EVEN IF IT TAKES ME TWICE AS LONG that way... ;)

Usually, I just wave my magic wand and chant for a few minutes and then some fairy comes along and takes everything off ... and then I pay her! LOL. After that I feel inclined to remove whaaatevvvver parts I need to.
