How to remove.....
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know how to remove the bar that runs over the front of the engine bay? I need to get to the coil of wires that runs underneath it and fix a couple. I removed all the screws, but it seems as if though the entire front nose of car has to be removed to get the thing off? Any help on the process of getting this thing off would be much appreciated |
Bar?

Yea, the bar the runs right behind the front unit of the car. It has the hood latch etc. on it, has a coil of wires running under it. Is the same color as the car

Take a saw and start cutting.

If you mean the bumper support. You must remove the front bumper download the FSM and look in the body section.

Interesting post here, someone else is having similar situation, but the opposite...reinstalling the bumper/rebar: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/93-rebar-784683/
Best bet too is like, the post above, invest in a FSM.

FD Zero. I think he is talking about the bumper reinforcement bar not the bumper reinforcement.
The bumper re-bar is a piece of metal that is located behind the bumper reinforcement. If you look at where your latch is attached, it is the bar just in front of it. This bar often has to be removed when installing some front mount intercoolers. I had to do this with mine. There are obvious advantages and disadvantages to installing an FMIC like this. The most obvious disadvantage is that you are giving up some of the cars structural integrity but on the flip side, the install is much cleaner than other FMIC options I considered. |
