how much gear oil do i need?

hey i have a jdm 1993 rx7, and im currently putting in an act 6pad race clutch, i figured while the trans is off to replace the gear oil.... but i dont know how much it needs because my owners manual is all in japanese. and i guess i was also wondering if it is an easy empty and fill operation or is there a trick to it, thanks

You need API GL-4 or GL-5 SAE 80W-90.
US quarts - 2.6

go with GL-4, there have been discussions about GL-5 chewing up the syncros since they are a "brass colored metal" No idea whether there is any truth behind it, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Also make sure to pull both the drain plugs, and when filling, start with the lower fill plug and then move to the upper one.

^ True. Eneos 75W90 Synthetic Gear Oil is the only GL-5 I would use because it has been lab tested by BHR and proven safe. Gears are a bit louder with this oil, but great compared to Redline MT-90, especially in the cold IMO.
