How to mount primary fuel rail
 

Ok guys , I'm trying to figure it out how to mount all that stuff right.

1 step : Put in place the fuel diffuser in plastic. Ok not a big deal !!!

Step 2 : What I'm gonna do with the O-Ring NF01-13-257A that we can see on the parts Fiche... ( See on pictures )


My problem is that when I'm putting this O-ring in the hole into the engine my fuel rail is sitting very high. And I'm gonna have to tight the bolt a lot and it is probably going to destroy the rubber O-ring like it did last time......

Note : My injectors are brands new I just got them from Gotham Racing and they send me a new side feed injectors for the FD I think. ( SARD INJECTORS ) The pint cap of the injector is different but other than that pretty much the same. Anybody know if they require a different installation over the old one ?????

INSULATOR,INJECTION is what the o-ring int he first pic is called but I don't remember it and I thought the o-rings with the white dot were called that. :scratch: That last picture looks fine. You will need some petrolium jelly or oil to lube the holes and those rubber o-rings with the white dots as well as the ones on the injectors. Hopefully you lubed up the inside of the rail and the other o-rings as well. Becuase if they moved out of place or got pinched then imagine the work you will have to do to correct it.

Picture #1 doesnt look right to me. Dosen't the difusser have the seal for the end of the injector built into it? I have top feeds so i cant remember to well!

The thing inside your red circle is a secondary insulator. How long since you took the old ones out? :)

I agree. You need to pull the diffusers and re-install the seals correctly. They are slotted to fit into the top of the diffusers.

Exactly. That insulator you have on the end of the fuel rail is for the 2ndary rail.

Why not just call up gotham racing and ask them ? i bet they would know for sure :)

The black rubber item shown in the first picture at the tip of the injector is the replacement seal for the primary fuel injector diffusers. The insulator for the secondary fuel rail is accordian-shaped and has always been gray in color to my knowledge.

The OP should have the secondary rail removed and should be able to varify what the secondary rail insulators look like.

Wow lots of misinformation here. The black rubber piece circled in the picture is the insulator for the 2ndary fuel rail and nothing else. Take those off and install them in the 2ndary rail as they are meant to be. The primary rail looks ready to install as is. Use a little lube such as silicone spray on the rubber insulators to prevent them from tearing on the way in and tighten everything down to spec. There are no replacement seals for the diffusers. They come as one unit.

All I can say is that the insulators in my secondary fuel rail look nothing like the item pictured, so either Mazda has changed the color and shape of the insulators or that is not what it is. My insulators are gray in color and are like a miniature accordian (multiple ribs). I agree that the seals on the diffusers come as one assembly when you get the entire assembly. The item pictured, however, looks remarkably like the seal installed at the top of the diffuser. That is why I am thinking it is a replacement seal for the diffuser. The way the OP wants to try to install it, however, is definitely not correct.

I will check with a local engine builder I know on the insulator.

I have checked around on the forum and Rotary Experiment Seven is correct. The item pictured is the current secondary injector insulator. Mazda has changed them from the gray accordian-style I have to the black ring-style pictured. I can also say that it is definitely not the seal for the primary diffuser. The seal has a sloped shoulder and appears to be bonded to the diffuser. I'm wrong! Sorry for the confusion.

Its all good. Just remember what heat, 15 years, and being compressed down can do to an o-ring.

Another thing, it looks like you are using the Cosmo 13b-RE primary injectors, they are longer than the FD. You should prime the fuel system with the rail out to verify they do not leak. As you can see in pic #3, the o-rings are actually protruding from the bottom of the rail.

Do they say Sard on them or Bosch # 195500 2040 ?
