How many of you paid for your FD?

I'm just curious... Well, this is actually more of a, "How did you obtain your FD" poll...

jdhuegel1 01-08-04 12:38 PM

You forgot:

"I fraudulently used another persons credit card to pay for mine!"

Someone PLEASE edit the poll ;)

Mahjik 01-08-04 12:48 PM

If you look at this poll:

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...threadid=39613

Over 80% of owners are over 20. Judging by that, I would say at least 80% bought their own cars (the other 20% wrecked 'em ;) ).

I was wondering this because I recall a post in the past where the person asked the ages, and the first several posts were all from people who were under 20, heh heh.

Credit card, you say? :asthanos:

FD3RotorTurbo 01-08-04 01:04 PM

also forgot

"I sold parts to other forum members, never sent the parts and kept the money."

Bought mine when I was 19. Put $10k down, paid $300+/month for insurance, and modded it all by myself.

WOW! Mad Props to you, seriously. At 19, all I could afford was a VW Cabriolet (laugh all you want know). :(

fastcarfreak 01-08-04 01:47 PM

paid myself and modded myself

expl0d 01-08-04 02:00 PM

I made enough money for my parents on the previous 2 cars I owned, so they let me buy the FD

prew 01-08-04 02:03 PM

i won mine in a raffle

pugg57 01-08-04 02:10 PM

I'm 22, mid-way to 23 at the moment, and i'm in the process of purchasing my first FD3. found one in great condition, 1993 with 32k on all stock and origional everything. BIG time babied.... but long story short, i'm selling my '02 RSX type-S to make the down payment on this one (still have a decent bit left on that loan) and taking out a loan to finish it off. i'm on my own and everything that is on/goes onto this car is gonna be from my wallet.

j/k man

DaedelGT 01-08-04 02:30 PM

Bought mine with cash.

SVT Squasher 01-08-04 03:07 PM

Bought mine by myself. Took on 8k in negitive equity on a GrandCherrokee limited but then I make good money so its not to bad for something you realy want. I just traded a 2000 for a 93 and the payment is real close to the same even insurance.

Did I say that my FD is not running right now. Oh well they still got screwed.:)

Larz 01-08-04 03:52 PM

I didn't pay for mine......the bank did. If I can fix my 626 and sell it I'll be halfway home. Can't wait to pay it off and go hunting for another rare car.

wiblergt 01-08-04 04:02 PM

these cars are awsome... i've had two 3rd gens. BUT if anyone finances a 10 year old car... YOU ARE CRAZY!

save your car money AND your mod money... AND PAY CASH!! you will have more money to mod later without paying HIGHER INSURANCE and a car payment!!!!

just my opinion...

Senseny 01-08-04 04:22 PM

For me, the idea of parents paying for anything is comical, let alone a sports car. Shit, I paid catholic high school tuition when I was 16. That started a trend that continued through college, home buying and a purchase of a business.
I will admit to being jealous of those people who are helped out. Believe me, I am not adverse to accepting gifts or help--it just hasn't worked that way for me.

ranmaman81 01-08-04 04:24 PM

well im in a little bit of a wierd situation with mine. im buying it from a dealership owned by my family and so the dealership is financing me and so i make my monthly payments to my dad.

mfigr1 01-08-04 04:35 PM

Let's just say I had to deal to alot of crackheads but man was it worth it :smoker:

-J/k bought the car on my own a couple years ago.

teamstealth 01-08-04 05:13 PM

My deal was whatever i had saved up, the rents would loan me the same amount. Had $7500 in the bank, got me a $14,200 FD and im *THIS* close to it being 100% mine :)

bigmack000 01-08-04 06:30 PM

What type of job is this? I'm in f'n college, and I can barely afford to pay for my tuition.

But I doubt most of you people had the money to put down on a FD especially if your in high school, I find that totally unreal.

SNracing 01-08-04 10:05 PM

bling bling... bought it myself, and im still payin for the bitch. :)
