How long is too long (gas)?
Before gas in the tank is no good, its been in storage for 4 months!
Wanna start her up tomorrow, let her tick over etc Should be ok no? maybe top her up just! Thanks in advance |
I would just start and drive it easy till it is low on fuel then fill up and enjoy.
That is what I do when my car sits over winter. |
In my experience 4 months is no problem at all. When you start it if it smells bad/funny go easy if it smells normal no worries.
When a car truly has bad gas there's a major smell change in the exhaust. |
In my experience, if it was stored indoors and the fuel was not crap in the first place, you should be able to just drive off with no worries. I would drive it easy until that tank is spent though. When I go through my first tank after winter it tends to stall a bit more easily and that goes away with fresh gas - that's been the worst that I've experienced.

I put Stabil in my gas because I do not drive all that much.

One of my other car sat outside for a year before I could move it into the garage for a motor swap, and I started it with 1 year old gas. It stumbled a bit but it starts and drives so 4 months gas shouldn't be a problem, but like everyone said go easy on it till you get a fresh tank.
