How long to take off the UIM?
I want to change out a solenoid but I don't know if I have enough light left. Generally how much time does it take?
|
It takes me about 5 minutes. But, I've done it quite a few times. Don't rush it though. I'd wait.

If you are talking one of the solenoids in the rats nest then good luck with that. You will need a good day and extra vacuum lines to get the job done and lots of patience and finesse. :)
|
Alright, what size vacuum hose will I need? I've never bought it before, but I'm assuming it comes in different sizes?
|
Most of the lines under the UIM are 4mm (or 3.5mm depending on the brand of hose).

If you use the write up, it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours at the most. One thing to watch out for... when you put the UIM back on, there is one hose that can get pinched closed if you are not watching what you are doing. It is right in the middle and you will know which one once you start putting it back on. This happened to me the very first time I ever pulled one off and put it back on. It caused it to smoke like crazy and run like crap. Just trying to look out for a brother :)

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for that. Just gotta wait for that hose to get in now.

anybody have this link working?? I've got to replace my charge control solenoid. Not looking forward to it. What else do I need to remove once I get the UIM off? |
Not sure what solenoids you are replacing but you might want to look at the attached. . .
