How hard is it to remove the inner fender liner
 

the plastic or rubber part inside the wheel well? My car is as low as it can be and I get constant rubbing because the fender liner broke off on one of the mounting tabs and is hanging lower than it should and is rubbing my tires. is this a straightforward deal? do i need to jack up my car and remove the wheels to get to all the screws? any idea how long it takes? I'm already coming up with something to cover the engine bay near the wheel well so junk does get in there so that is not a problem.

It's VERY easy. Might want to remove the wheel for easier access to everything. Should take like 5 minutes to do.

hard part is getting it back in b/c all the fasteners break.

Yeah just go get a bag of those plastic fasteners, because the originals tend to break easily.

do they sell these at kragen or the like.... or can i order them from mazda. EVERY TIME i pull anything off of the FD that involves their stupid plastic fasterner screws it ends badly. too bad they couldnt have used some other sort of "fastening" method besides plastic screws... hmmph. -heath

Not the type of fasteners that you're referring to. Just use a #2 phillips screwdriver to carefully back out the middle portion, then carefully pry the whole assembly out. The rest should be just sheet metal screws.

Well, my local independant auto parts store has dozens of these kinds of plastic/nylon fasteners (not the type with the phillips screw in the middle). Here in Canasa, they are packaged by some outfit in Montreal.
Just bring a used fastener along and find something similar.
