Has anyone done the works bell hub install? I've installed the resistors, plugged the red wire connector into the connector, now I have the red/ black w/ females.

Which goes to the horn?
And do I bring the other to ground?
Where did you guys locate to do this?
... if I'm on the right tracks.

Pics would be helpful, as there are many different setups out there by Works Bell. Did you get the airbag light defeat resistor to work properly?

The horn wire is green with a red tracer. That'll need to plug into the back of the horn as it grounds out when you push the button.

I just installed my WB regular hub and Rapfix II and it took some careful examining but I got it eventually. Perhaps if you post pictures it will refresh my memory.

ah, i just installed this today too. i should have taken some pics of the process.

I am left with the one resistor, with two male ends, not sure where that goes?

The Works Bell adapter came with a direction sheet that helped a bit, and it shows the airbag plug and what to plug into. But then it shows another plug, and i'm not sure where that exists, and i cant read japanese

^does your airbag light blink?

The resistor w/two male ends plugs into the blue plug that exits the clockspring. You can use a small flatblade screwdriver to move the detent on the orange horn plug and connect it..... normally you'd need to plug in the blue airbag plug first.

when i did mine i tried connecting the horn wires back but with the hub having no hole or through way for the wire to go i wasnt able to use it , my air bag light was blinking but i just disconnected it from under the dash

he just a heads up u may want to put ur steering wheel on the hub before u put the hub on and make sure the wheel are straight. other wise u may have it on kinda crooked.

For you horn button, do you have 2 connections on it or just one?

If it's just one, when the steering wheel and horn is installed, the button's metal thick spring like wire(?) will ground itself, so when you press the button it will beep.

Try this out:
Plug in red wire to button, hold horn down and tap any metal section of the horn to the hub. If it doesn't beep, try using the black wire and make sure you are at least touching the horn to the steering wheel.

If you have a 2 wire button, just plug in both and test it out.

It's 1 and almost sure the red side is the horn, was just curious about where the black would go. Going to fiddle again with it soon, just thought someone might have already done this install.

I'm pretty sure the black connection is just extra then for you. Some horns have 2 connections. OR if you use an anodized quick release you would need the extra black connector. Can't ground it if it's anodized.

ya im pretty sure on my stock wheel it had two connections with a ground wire , i cant remember but i think i connected a female on the end of the horn wire i cut and then wired it in with the nardi steering wheel i bought

I hate to bring this thread back to life but I just did this to my rx7 and I can clear up some details for others.

Remember that the hardware necessary for this complete job comes with different parts of the job. If you start this with only the Works Bell hub you may not have all the parts/screws needed.

This is a list of what I had at the time of installation.

---------------------------------------------------------------
I assume in this installation that you have assembled the horn button on your wheel correctly and that you have two wires for horn connection. This guide is an approximation of what you must do and each configuration could be different. Nothing replaces the skill and knowledge of a trained mechanic. The following is just a step by step account of my experience and not intended as a "how to" guide. Connecting the quick release and horn button are self explanatory.

- 1 horn wire
- 1 resistor
- 1 earth ring (looks like a washer)
2. NRG QR 1.5
- 1 connector plate
- 1 quick release body
3. NRG 320mm Flat Steering Wheel
- horn button installed

TOOLS

8, 9, 10mm Sockets + 1-3in extension
#2 Phillips Head
1/2in Torque Wrench + 7/8 8point socket (not correct mm size but it fit perfect)

PREP
---------------------------------------------------------------
Park your car / roll till tires are straight in line with the rear tires. Your steering wheel will be aligned correctly for installation.

IMPORTANT:
Disconnect negative battery terminal. Pump brakes to release residual charge and wait 20 minutes before attempting to remove the airbag system. An accidental detonation of the airbag is greatly reduced by following these guidelines.

INSTRUCTIONS
---------------------------------------------------------------
The following assumes you are changing the stock steering wheel on a 93 RX7 Touring edition.

1. On rear of steering wheel you must remove three rubber caps to expose the bolts beneath them. These hold the airbag in place and cover the steering hub nut. Make sure you have read the prep section before completing this step.

2. Once all three bolts have been removed gently pull the airbag out. Support the bag as it will be connected by wires. The wire is held into the steering wheel shell by bendable metal arms. Bend these out of your way to make this easier. When disconnecting wires make sure you aren't using force, everything in this diss-assembly is meant to disconnect, take your time.

3. Before removing the nylon nut in the center of the steering wheel shell make sure the cruise control wire is disconnected. Using the appropriate socket break the nut free and try not to let the wheel turn out of center alignment.

4. Gently give the steering wheel a few bumps from the back to help slide off the splined shaft. once removed you should see the clockspring and two wires, a small wire and a wire with two connectors. See pictures above.

(extra) if you aligned your wheel correctly during prep you should see two arrows both pointing up. The Works bell hub has a dot on the top as well as the NRG connector plate. These should all be placed in the same orientation.

5. The large connector on the passenger side wire will need to be adapted for the horn and to disable the airbag light. the right side of the connector has two individual metal prongs. The left side has one metal prong. Take a wired resistor that came with the Works Bell and connect the small female single pin connector to each prong. You should have two wires coming from the right side of the connector to a resistor.

6. On the left single prong you will need to use a connector that came with the Works Bell to connect to your horn button (when using a quick release this will be behind the connector plate). Pull this wire through the hole on bottom of hub. Tuck other wires into hub however they fit best.

7. Tuck wires into the hub assembly and torque hub onto splined shaft at 23ft/lbs no more.

8. A black wire from the horn button should be the last wire to connect. This is the point at which it can be confusing. I haven't seen anyone mention this. You should have a ring with outer and inner slots and a tab that goes in towards the center of the ring. This is the earth ring which will ground our horn button. The tab in the center is connected to the black horn wire (ground wire). If you have a quick release this will be between hub and connector plate, if not then between hub and wheel.

9. Once the connections for the horn are complete you can bolt on the quick release or steering wheel, depending on your setup.
