How does the rotary engine handle the cold?

I haven't gotten around to starting my rx-7 for almost a month and it has been sitting outside. Where I live it has gotten very cold lately below freezing point. You know how the story goes time starts passing and before you know it's a month since its been sitting. My question is has anyone ever had an apex seal stick on them to extremely cold temperatures. I was planning on insulating it somehow. Anything else I should worry myself over. I hate to have a perfectly good running motor fail me because of the weather.

u should get out there and start the car asap! do it at the warmest time of the day if your really worried. Just get it started. You shouldnt let the car sit like that. good luck and i hope everything is fine.

why outside????

put it in the garage man

start it immediately let it idle for like 5-7min before driving, then park it from the elements

I daily drive mine in all weather but ice/snow. FD's LOVE freezing weather, just make sure the car is warmed up before driving it.

The only problem I had on the very cold winter days was higher than normal boost which led to fuel cut-off. If I floored it, it would take off like a bat out of hell, then it would cut off for a second. I did the home depot manual boost control and it helped, but not always. That was a stock ecu with a DP, Greddy SMIC, NI duel cat back, newer engine, intake, and efini y-pipe. Now that I think about it, I should have upgraded the ecu.

I never had any problems in the cold, although the stock temp gauge would drop all the way down on the freeway or going down the mountain. I love my Koyo. Josh

Nah, my house didn't come with a garage, just a car port were I keep the 7 under a car cover. Ive been so busy lately with work and stuff, I rarely drive it only in good weather. Then time flies it gets dark or whatever and say ah all do it tommorrow but never do. I really wish I had a garage though. That's my next ambition. The reason I was asking about it's effects is somewhere I read this guy having to do a rebuild due to a mixture of cold weather and fuel on the apex seals causing them to stick on the housing. He said he got the rear to unstick with tranny fluid, but the front ones would not budge and when it finally did it got all fkcd up. As you can see I'm at work right now otherwise I'd be starting it instead of Bullshitting, but the time I get home to damn dark to do a thing.
