How do you tell the difference between 4.10 and 4.33 gears?

Title say's it all. How do I know by looking at the ring and pinion if I have 4.10 or 4.33? Count the teeth?

thanks,

bill

see which has a higher top end? the 4.10's will top out quite a bit higher than the 4.33's

if you want to know before you instal, you could probably hold them next to each other and compare the size and number of teeth

divide the number of teeth on the ring gear by the number of teeth on the pinion gear

Why do you say that? The FD doesn't run out of gear at top speed.

The diff between 4.10 and 4.33 is small, 5.6%. IIRC the 275's I had on my car were ~3% taller so the difference was an even smaller 2.6% so the speedo was almost correct and I didn't lose any acceleration due to the larger diameter (but a little to increased weight).

For auto-x I could tell the difference, increased acceleration in 2nd gear due to the small increase in torque, more from the slightly higher rpm I could come of the corners with. 4.77 would be better for auto-x, 4.33 better for the street.

yeah 4.10 to a 4.33 wouldnt be much of a difference, any other gears you considering?

4.4 or 4.57 would be nice :)

ulost2my7...thanks...

I was not looking for the driving differences between the two...just wanted to make sure the gears are 4.33's.

I had 4.33's in my last rx7...
