How do you restore your FD's door to open/close like a"new car" feel?
What parts needs to be replaced in general/common that will restore my FD's door to open and close like when it was new?

I don't know if you have ever been in a S2K but I'd like to achieve the feel it has when you open/close the doors. I can only describe it as "crisp"

Is this more of a sound or feel issue? If itssound add some sound deadening but as for feel, its always going to feel like shuttingthe door of a tank.
|
Feel. I just feel like I'm abusing her every time I close the door :(
|
quiet coat the inside of the door skin. makes it feel solid, and eliminated the "tin can" sound when you close it.. sounds like a solid thump now.
|
Lube the door handle and key lock while you are in there and put in a led for the burnt out door handle light.
|
Its all in the weather stripping and sealers. Have you ever closed/opened a door on a sub 30k mile fd? It has that "crisp" feel that you're talking about. It just clicks together, sounds so good. Makes me wish I had a nice interior...

1: Buy quiet coat
2: Take off door panels (theres a bunch of screws) 3: Spray on to the inside of the door skin 4: Put door panels back on ???? 6: Profit You can also dynamat the door rebar. They are known for making the "tingy" sound |

Not necessarily so. I just spoke with a family member who does Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) to confirm. A reasonable amount (something less than stupid thick) spray undercoating doesn't bother him.

Handles
Lots of good info here. When i first got my FD, it had a broken exterior door handle. I purchased a set of metal handles for it. Love them. I wish i could remember where i got them from. Made a good bit of difference tho. I would recommend them to anyone who has a broken handle or anyone who plans to work on their doors.

Where does someone order new door seals? I noticed someone had said to lube hinges and get new seals. I have not had luck finding them.
|
Ray Crowe is the only place to go.
-get new door plastic pins (cheap) -get new door guide pins (top), also really cheap -any other door seals that are torn Ray has them all at the Best prices |
Sweet, he has all this stuff in stock i assume?
|
Also, does he have the seal for the hatchback?
