how do you change the rear lug stem on a 93rx7
 

i broke a stem and took the rotor off and i can get the stem out . Do i need to take off that little hub that the stems are mounted into ? looks that way to me

Take the hub off.

This has been covered before (can't find the thread) But the ENTIRE rear upright.( the big aluminum bracket that holds the hub,wheel bearing etc..) has to be removed. Then go to a good machine shop and have them press the HUB out of the upright. Then knock off the ABS sensor ring and press out the old stud. Then press in the NEW stud, replace the sensor ring(ABS), press the HUB back into the upright, reinstall upright onto car, add tires and have fun....!! I am doing the wheel bearings on a FC as we speak and the procedure is the same. You may want to do the bearing while you are there. It is an expensive bearing though. Hope this helps. bahahah i just did this and it took 3 freaking weeks ...most of the posts on this forum gave me the worst advice...soo i went to the dealership and looked through one of the service manuals......and in the service manual you have to remove both control arms,toe link, and tie rod.....then you have to borrow or get a press and press the hub off of the axle and the hub assembly will come apart and you can knock a new wheel stud in place....i called a shop and they said they would do it for 130 bucks...the part is 1 buck at autozone.....trust me people on this site told me its easy and the hub just slides off ....WRONG!!!!....the front hubs slide off the rears DO NOT!...well hope this clarifies some things....thanks and good luck

I would like to apologize for the info I gave in your thread. I had done it to my FD and got lucky that the hubs came out. ( with the slidehammer) I have the FSM and was to stubborn to look at it for you. Next day I went out to do the FC mentioned above and I learned my lesson. I beg for your forgiveness ! Sorry.;) :)

My hubs came out with a slidehammer too.

Are you trying to get the axle out so you can drop that rear diff? ;)

Actually, the ABS sensor ring is attached to the axle, so there's no need to do anything to it. :)

Good point , I got confused with explaining the procedure on the FD with the FC i am doing now. Thanks for pointing that out Jimlab:) ( One less thing to worry about!!)
