How do universal mufflers, perform and sound
I'm still gonna hold out and pay 600 hundred on a Greddy PE,but just curious if anybody is using a universal muffler,Like Apexi has one that is a big canister, supposed to be hi flow, for like 200 hundred but i think that's what alot of honda owners have,I just want to know if anybody has a universal, what kind and are you happy, cause they are hell alot cheaper, but might be good for a temporary replacement since my stock one has split on me

thats not paint....
I'm not sure how much it will help but...
My friend has a Saturn SL2. He wanted to get an exhaust so he purchased a Bozal BroSpeed $100 universal exhaust. It sounds far from good. Well... maybe it's more the car than the exhaust. I know half the ricers that run around are just universal and they sound like crap too. If you need an exhaust look at prices for stock ones... if it's not too much more than go with a universal. I am pretty sure Apexi will have a little better quality than a Bozal but if you can avoid it try to stick with a catback from the start. I have a RB Duel Tip and love it. You might be able to get a different catback than the GReddy less money. I remember I was stuck on the GReddy... I guess I changed my tastes, I think the GReddy PE is just too big.

Remeber and Exhaust is not a muffler. It is the combination of piping and the mufler. Unless you have someone that can get you mandrel bends for the piping you can actually lose performance on your car nomatter how big or flowing your muffler is.
I would recomend just to get a good cat back exhaust. The universal mufflers from Apex'i are the same as their N1. HKS also sells the Hiper muffler and the Titanium Racing muffler seperate.
The piping on the FD really has nothing to it so you might be able to get away with it building your own.
