How do i take these a/c knobs off.

I am trying to refinish the panels on my interior.. i am taking apart the a/c panel to get all of the components and switches off of it for paint... i cannot get the dang thing apart and am too scared to put force into it. I tried searching but could not find a thread on how to disassemble the a/c panel completely. I also tried looking in the FSM, no luck.

Pull for the knobs.

For the rest of the panel, you have to pull the shifter surround and dash in order to effectively pull of the whole AC panel without breaking anything.

There are 15 (i think?) screws on the back that you have to take off.

do you need to use a heat gun to remove the back of the control knobs? I'll be doing this in the future so I wold like some advice.

To remove the backing to the climate control you will remove the knobs by simply pulling on them until they slide off. After you do that, you flip it over and unscrew all the tiny aluminum screws (there are quite a few of them). To remove the climate control display decals, you'll have to apply some minor heat to loosen the glue/goo holding them in place. I just used a hair dryer and they came off pretty easily. Just go at it slow so you don't rip or damage them.
