How do I run 2 fuel pumps?

ok, I'm installing a single turbo and a direct port 75 shot of nitrous. I want to run 2 fuel pumps for this. How do I get 2 fuel pumps in there? Also, what kind should I run? I have a walbro 255lph right now, would 2 of those do the job?
Thanks for your help,
Jesse

Hose clamp one fuel pump to the existing one.

How you want to run your fuel from there is up to you. You can "Y" them inside the tank, in the engine bay, use the FPR as the "Y" or run dual return lines...that's up to you.

ok, cool. I was thinking about running a seperate line just for the nitrous.

Yep. Y them together.

hmmm more fuel more fuel....are those pumping from the bottom of the gas tank?

holy shit, i just noticed thats the 3 rotor rx8 in the background!!!

Those look like Aeromotive units and I think they should supply more fuel than any man and his car should ever need!

Yep.

I have 3 fuel pumps running in the car. The two you see there and the Pro Series fuel filters; along with one in the tank.

Each pump (Aeromotive) supplies 500 lbs per hour.

I think this will give me all the fuel I need.

But how many lbs per hour does it flow at 75+psi of pump pressure? That 500 rating is probably at 40psi, which is less than what you'll have even at idle.

Not sure. The 500 rating is quoted for 45 psi. Any guestimates? I haven't ran the numbers yet. I am tired too. :) (Hint - hint). :)

SPOautos 02-06-04 01:54 AM

What is the model number, I think Aeromotive has flow charts on thier website

Red-Rx7 02-06-04 01:57 AM

Not sure of the model # off hand. I believe it is the A1000 unit. It isn't the top-of-the-line eliminator one.

SPOautos 02-06-04 02:05 AM

Yea, I though it was the A1000 from the pic. Have you heard them with the car on yet? Those babies are LOUD, especially since you ahve 2 of them. They are going to be louder than your engine

Here is you a chart
http://216.242.145.16/products/produ...ml?p=3&large=2

At WOT you'll prob get around 300lph each from them if you run around 20psi of boost.

I have not heard them yet. I am sure they will be loud, but figuring everything else in the car, I most likely wont hear them. :) Between the 4" dp, mp, catback; Guru Dog Box transmission, and the engine itself. :)

I will not run 20psi. More likely, 7 PSI on the streets, and if need-be, 14 psi. I don't think I will traction for that.

STEPHEN- You don't see anything wrong with the setup, do you?

Heath 02-06-04 09:12 AM

Yeah is that ever true. Don't leave that baby unattended! Oh wait, where are you located again?? :D

Well, I wouldnt really say there is anything wrong with it except that its overkill for the boost you want to run. If it were me I'd prob ran 2 high flow Denso or Walbro pumps, that would be fine for your boost requirements. In addition it would be super quite you'd never hear it. Your basically sacrificing quite street pump to be able to make more power than you ever plan on making.

To give you an example, I know someone running that pump and when you crank the car it drowns out the engine. You can hear the pump from the bleachers when he's staging at the track....actually you can hear it as good as teh engine

And he only has 1

I f you want to be running more than 55 psi fuel pressure (38 idle and 15+ boost) then stay awat from the A1000 , I am having problems where that pump cannot supply enough to maintain the line pressure . Why not spend a little more and go with twin BOSCH ' 044 or even the mechanicel AEROMOTIVE.

Yes, but I built the car to handle it all. If I go to a show, and someone doesn't believe the car could make 900 at the wheels, then I could simply put in the appropriate fuel and run 26 psi to show them (assuming there is a mobile dyno).

I would rather over-build the car than to have something lack from ever showing the cars real potential.

There is a lot of things in the car which isn't needed for 7-15 psi of boost (Transmission, Axles, etc). But, it is good to know the car has it. :)

lol. Yeah, the car is already under lock and key. But, I would just hate to be rear-ended at 65 MPH.
