how do I replace belts?
I blew my main belt today, so I am replace it of course. while I am at it, I am going to replace my other belt, but I have no idea how it comes off...
can anyone help here? |
loosen the idler pulley nut then adjust the bolt right above that...this will release the belt that powers the ac compressor and power steering
for the other.... your gonna need to loosen the mounting bolts for the air pump and alternator..then loosen the adjusting bolt right above the mounting bracket right of the alternator.... |
thanks amp,
I have the main belt off already... just can't figure out how to get the other one off.... anyone have pics? would me much appreciated |
your gonna need to remove some of the intake hoses to get better access to the two air pump bolts...
|
remove the intake hoses?
lol, everything short of the turbo manifold is out.... |
ur gonna have to loosen the 3 air pump bolts to get enough slack to remove the belt
|
the air pump is off.... (and that belt is off)
I need to know how to get at the other belt |
On the drivers side of the alternator, you will see a long bolt that recesses out of site, but if you look closely, you'll see that this bolt is attached to the pulley called the idler pulley. You're gonna want to TIGHTEN the bolt (righty tighty) to raise the pulley and release belt tension. I'll see if I can find a pic and photoshop some arrows for ya. Hope this helps.
