How do I explain the MAZDA/RX-7 lettering on the back to a seller or bodyshop? (pic)

A friend of mine had his FD painted and he said that the bodyshop broke the lettering off the back because they were simply plastic pieces. I dont have any lettering on the back of my car, but I want them.

-Can these pieces be taken off easily? (So I can ask someone to take them off of a part out car)
-How can I have a body shop match what they look like and make new ones for me?

Heres what Im talking about (bumming the pic off of gorockrx from his For Sale Page)

Thanks

you can buy them at rx7store.net...when you take that out it usually breaks...

Mitch529 02-06-05 09:18 PM

they are very easy to remove, I used some floss to get them off. You should be able to get someone to sell you them for really cheap.

I got a Q about this too, I just bought the efini badges, how do you put it on? It is sticky, but not sticky enough to stay? It doesn;t have any points either, so it must just stick on somehow. Also the other badges, the front and back, how should you put those on there? Tape, Glue? Those aren't sticky but have the points.

the RX-7 logo come's with double sided tape just peel and stick, while the emblems you will have to put double sided tape and put on

ManGaZeRo 02-06-05 09:26 PM

Are there any holes behind the rx7?

rx7store.net just has the RX-7 lettering with an Enfini emblem under it.

No one knows where I can get the stock RX-7/MAZDA lettering from?

The 94's touring's are glued on.

Mitch529 02-06-05 10:09 PM

hmm I must have got unlucky lol. I have a 94 touring and I have holes :(

DaleClark 02-06-05 10:16 PM

All the emblems and stuff are available new from Mazda. Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda is THE man to get your parts from - he's super knowledgeable, and will get you a very fair price on parts. The new emblems shouldn't be that pricey.

Most emblems come with the double-sided tape already attached - they just peel and stick. If they don't, 3M makes a double-sided molding tape that works GREAT - it's specifically designed for the task. Stays on forever. It's available at pretty much any parts store.

i have the mazda wording if you want it pm me..........my 93 r1 has holes

JaNusSolSumnus 02-06-05 11:08 PM

My 94 Touring has holes... I do not believe that Mazda molded the bumpers without the two alignment holes in ANY year or TRIM LEVEL.

In any case, you are asking for Mazda OEM badges, the best place for those is a Mazda Dealer. Ray Crowe from Malloy MAzda in CT is kind to the RX-7 owners out there and will get you whatever you need. (1-888-533-3400)

the 'rx7" part is a sticky. the "mazda" part has prongs, thus the holes.

jeff p 02-06-05 11:44 PM

I paid almost $60.00 from the dealer for the two pieces. Like Meiogirl said the Mazda Badge has prongs and the RX7 badge has tape. per the shop manuel the rx7 badge goes under the mazda badge not on the left side of the car like some do.

I used silicone glue to apply the emblems. It's held up great so far and allows the emblem to sit very flush with the body. It won't damage the paint either.

The shop manual is incorrect in some cases. The "RX-7" badge actually fits above the "Mazda" text.

You are correct that the "Mazda" text has 3 holes and the "RX-7" badge is taped on.

hey, this is sort of related.... but i was wondering if anyone has gotten a set (or where one would get a set) of the 99 spec badges (not the bird... i have those) but i mean the "mazda" that goes on the left, and the (larger than ours) "rx7" that goes on the right.

ill see if i can find a good pic

I remember reading a thread where DaleClark was trying to find the emblems you're referring too where the mazda was different and located on the left. Not sure if he ever found what he was looking for, but you may want to try asking him.

heres the pic of the 99 emblems... http://www.corksport.com/content/00/...ges/473551.jpg

i also have a couple (20b-REW) emblems which im trying to decide placement for... if i stick with the stock 93 lettering ill put that oval emblem on the left side (although its sort of an ugly bronz color)... if i can find the 99 lettering then it may look weird on the rear. im just trying to decide where all these things should go...

I like those better than the 93-95 emblems we have here:).
