How to disable coolant buzzer?

I dont need it because I have an autometer water temp gauge and microtech but when I wire my gauges all together the add coolant light goes on after a while. Is there a way to disable it? AND before I start hearing it I know the "I wouldnt disable if I were you" I dont need it. thank you. please let me know if there is a way? I also dont have the sensor for it anyway?

isnt it just a single wire ground out switch? if so just ground it. hmm let me look in the ol wiring diagrams......

It's a single wire. You can disable it by grounding the connector. I don't understand how having an aftermarket ecu and water temp gauge leads you to believe you don't need it. If you lose 1/2 the coolant your temps at the sensor may be fine but the motor could still get cooked.

The buzzer is on the driver side kick panel up high just pull them one at a time! Glad to see your still working on it!!

Thanks Busted7, can anyone be a little more detailed there are a couple connectors.

yeah theres one wire ill take a pic for u tomorrow. or you can ground direct at the water level sensor clip.

Just ground it out and you'll never have the buzzing again.

I just removed the buzzer out of the cpu and now all is quiet! I had to build my harness for the haltec and didnt want to go searching under the dash again!

LOL^
I think its a Black/Red stripe with a small black plug which runs out of the body harness....around the power streeing area, but ya just ground the wire that plugs into the level sensor :)

93stockfd 09-08-09 05:51 PM

You didn't say if the buzzer just came on or if came on after the harness was out of the car, or if you are using an aftermarket gauge
If you've had the harness unplugged...check the two single spade connectors that exit the engine harness behind the power steering pump... where they connect to the body harness.
Make sure its white to white and black to black....if they're switched the buzzer will sound continuously.

Better yet, just get the thing fixed.

I've seen other forum members get fucked on a recently acquired car b/c some lazy ass PO grounded the wire instead of dealing with a problematic coolant system.

MuRCieLaGo 09-08-09 09:50 PM

I already have a perfectly running coolant temp. gauge.

93stockfd thanks I'll check this out, it buzzes since I changed my engine last week!

MuRCieLaGo 09-09-09 03:36 PM

I tried switching the 2 switches, without success.

Bumping this thread every couple of hours is pretty obnoxious. Don't do it again. Thanks.

perfectly running stock temp gauge or aftermarket? The stock one won't move from the center until the motor is just about fried.

1. Ok.

2. Yes I know loll that's why I just bought an aftermarket gauge!:)

3. I found the wire!:icon_tup:

I tried changing the water thermo sensor, without success. The coolant buzzer is always on if I unplug my bypass.

MuRCieLaGo 05-25-10 06:06 PM

And my coolant is full @ 100 %.

Bump!

go under the dash, drivers side... locate the black box (on my JDM at least) that is buzzing...

pull it out.. take the box apart... you will see a large (for the board anyway) black cylinder that only has two leads on it... that is the buzzer... heat up the TWO solder connections on the back and pull the buzzer out..

the light will still be on, but at least you will not have to listen to the buzzing anymore..

Thanks but I already have a bypass to disable the buzzer. But if I have an issue with my coolant level, the buzzer won't go on. I want to permanently remove the bypass to fix the problem without "cheating".

I have tried grounding the wire and it will not shut off. I am about to go crazy. I first grounded the wire from the black spade...that didnt work. I then cut the brown/ white strip wire and grounded it again...it still wont shut off.

Any other ideas?

I stole the picture from this post but mine looks the exact same.

I have a 3 rotor but i don't think that should make a difference...
