Hose on driver side airbox... what's it do?

So I did some work on my air intake, & I noticed there is one hose connected to the top half of the airbox on the driver side & the other end of the hose doesn't attach to anywhere...

Is this a designed air outlet in case there is too much air in the airbox? I just wanted to make sure the hose wasn't supposed to be attached at both ends.

& if it is simply a excess air outlet... would it be possible (& make sense) to run the hose back to intercooler ducting? I figure more air is better... so if there is too much air going through the airbox, maybe take the excess release hose, & run it to the intercooler ducting for added cooling?

Just an idea... with a question attached...

A vent ,,,,let it hang there .It is not making pressure so why hook it to the innercooler ,that will be a boost leak .

the hose that goes down to no one just vents off teh airpump MOO noise that you will hear if you take it off. if you disect teh stock airbox the hose coming from teh airpump goes into the top of teh box into its own chamber with baffle things inside to deaden the noise and then it comes out on the drivers side and goes straight down towards the radiator

take off the hose and listen carefully when driving at low rpms and what not. that noise will get annoying real quick like
