Hopefully a quick fix with Powersteering?
 

Here's the background.
I took off the line that goes on top of the pump so that I could reroute a harness under it so that it wasn't in the way of my plugs and wires and oil lever checker. I had routed it that way when putting in the motor. So I took off the hard metal line on top of the pump and also the rubber line going to the tank where you add powersteering fluid. So I lost about 1/2 a quart at most of fluid from taking the rubber line off. I then routed everything correctly and put both lines on.

Then I got in the car and had no powersteering. So a couple days later I filled it up with ATF Dextron III and then got in the car and moved the steering wheel left and right to both extremes to bleed it out. Still no powersteering.

I read the manual and it says to jack the front end up and then move the wheel left and right and then check the fluid and then put it on the ground and move left and right and check it again. I didn't jack it up I just did it while it was on the ground. Also should the cap be on the tank where you add fluid to the powersteering when you are turing the wheel to try to bleed it?

I even drove without the cap for like 3 minutes to see if that would do it. I've taken lots of turns to try to work it out but it's still not there. The fluid is now a little above the max line on the plastic filler tank.

I'm not that weak but I have a hard time driving without the powersteering. Please advise me what to do to get it back. It has to be something simple.

Hmm... any noise...?
I've been working on mine for a bit now... just replaced the rack itself and I am about to replace the line you removed from the top of the pump... is there any considerable amounts of fluid on the ground? anything leaking?

I better not need to buy anything. It was working perfect before. No I don't hear any noise I just feel that it isn't working at all or very well since I can hardly move the wheel from a stop. No, nothing is leaking. Like I said the fluid level is above the max line now.

The problem has to be with the bleeding of the system. What basically happened was some air got in there and I lost some fluid. We'll I refilled the fluid so that just leaves getting the air out I think.

when you first started the car, was there any power steering fluid in the tank? If the tank was emty then I wonder if the pump seized or something broke in there because of lack of fluid. If I were you I'd take a good look around the pump to make sure all of your conections are holding properly. Make sure the belt it tight, and there is plenty of PSF in the tank. If it doesn't fix it's self in a day or so I'd buy a use one from someone.

no, the fluid was still above the min line that's why I drove it duh!!
I wouldn't have driven without fluid.

good I'm glad you weren't stupid enough to drive without the fluid in there. You just never know how smart some people are. How many miles do you have on that pump? and what color or age was the fluid that was in there before?

the fluid was orangish color and I don't know how old it was

the power steering pump has 74k on it like my car :D

There's no way in hell that it just broke due to age at the exact same time that I was doing all of this stuff.

hmm... ok few possibilities...
1. you still have yet to rotate the wheel enough yet... left-right and so on... it took about 5 attempts to get it to work correctly
2. you may have a leak in the main P/S line... doubtful b/c you would have notced it... they have a tendency to have holes puched in them by arching ign wires.
3. Something is not hooked up correctly
4. Bad relay possible... (can't remember if there is one) take it out and shake it if so.
5. Car gods are being assholes to you
6. Pump is messed up for some stupid reason... i.e. pully not tight enough to grab shaft.
7. Pump is dead... call warranty co if one is available, insurance if needed, try and find a used one if you get a chance... if all else fails... drive the B@#$ off into the lake like I wanted to last time somthing broke.

it cant be broken all I did was take off a frigen line that goes to it and then I put it back and filled the fluid. this pump sucks ass
