Home Made V-Mount. will it help cooling??
 

Hi guys I making my own V-mount, out of a Blitz intrcooler and koyo n-flow rad.. I am almost done with it, I just need to do the piping now. My car overheated after 5 lap at my last track day so I wana see if this would help in any way.

Do you guys think this would help or is this just useless??

The attempt is valid, but the execution has some holes.

1. Vmount radiators are modified in a way that puts the end tanks at the top. The bottom port is cut off, hole sealed, and rewelded to the top. Without this, you are running a hose from the front bottom of the car, over the fans and up to the water pump. You don't want a radiator hose that low or forward. I recommend having a fabricator do this, or purchase a pre-modified radiator from Rx7store.

2. The intercooler you are using isn't best for a Vmount. The end tanks should be on top. This would allow you to pull the core back more, and raise the front up. The front looks a little low. It's not bad, just a little low. Your current end tank placement is just going to make the piping more complex.

3. Add ducting. As you mentioned, you aren't finished, but I wanted to add this. Air needs to be channeled to pass through each unit. Adding side walls and a center splitter will ensure that each component gets equal flow. Otherwise, the air will follow the least resistive path. This includes all around the sides, and mostly through the thinner radiator.

4. Vented hoods help. Not necessary, but they will help with cooling.
