hmm i got my new street/strip clutch w/9lb fly, I really dont feel big differance?
 

I broke it in properly but i really dont feel big diffeence in power?
i got 9lbs flywheel with street/strip clucht from act......i at least thought it would be back off the seat accelaration? what could be the problem

did any of you feel big difference......what kinda mod do i need for that back of your seat accelaration? the only difference with my new clutch i am satified with is past 4000 rpm my clutch isnt slipping like it used to i can now smoothly accelarate to 8000 rpm! so all in all it was worth it but just wondering about everyone else who has got similar upgrade did you feel big improvment?:cool:

The lightweight flywheel has the most effect in the lower gears. It's very beneficial in first, less in second, less in third, etc.

I was under the impression that a light flywheel just helps you to rev quicker not increase horse power.. THe power you are looking for is definitley in a SINGLE turbo.. Good luck

A lighter flywheel doesn't really add horsepower, it can free some hp up though and the difference is minimal. Some people may not notice it while others can but anyways, it's there.

i noticed that 1st gear after the secondary switch is absolutley worthless after i installed my 9#. time for some sticky tires :)

well yeah i knew only benificial in first gears 1st and 2nd.....but i guess i the problem is i dont notice it........about going single it will happen that is my altimate goal!

its just i thought it would be a REALLY noticable increase in power........guess i am can never get enough power!

i am happy though cause now grabs where it slipped and if i get more horsepower i now my clutch will be able to handle it:cool:

There is no increase in engine power, obviously, and a negligible (probably not even measurable) increase in rear wheel horsepower because of the reduction in the mass of the drivetrain. Negligible because there is no reduction in the frictional losses of the drivetrain whatsoever.

Whoever told you to expect a horsepower gain or a noticeable "seat of the pants" experience should be shot. :)

What you should be able to notice is that the engine revs a little more quickly (improved throttle response), and that when you let off on the gas, you'll slow down a little more quickly. That's about it. :)

I was underwhelmed too. After reading old threads, I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to drive around in parking lots anymore with the 9.5lb flywheel, and the clutch was supposed to be binary. All lies! I could barely tell a difference at all. Just a very subtle change in character of the car. But I like blipping the throttle, so I would never go back.

As far as a horsepower increase, I believe the thread you are probably referring to was the one that did calculations based on the rotational momentum. The difference can't be measured on a dyno, but since our cars rev so quickly in 1st (and 2nd to a lesser degree), you gain some acceleration due to having to waste less power accelerating the flywheel. My experience would tend to support the theory since my car started totally breaking the wheels loose at around 5000 in first, where it used to only start spinning at around 7k+.

Again, nothing earthshattering, but it definitely helps complete the car.

If you want to feel a big difference in power than I suggest upgrading your ECU, intake, and exhaust.

I am waiting on mine. It is on the way and I will let you all know if I feel a difference. Just got to be patient I guess :( :(
