HKS Twin Power went bad causing boost cut off.

Hi All:

I think this deserve a new thread and want to share with the members here. I have been troubleshooting my car for at least a year. I tried everything to find out what caused my car not able to rev above 3k rpm under boost. Finally today, I found out the problem.

My car has been having problem not able to rev over 3K rpm under boost. I thought my 2nd turbo is grinding the housing which cause chattering noise and trigger the knock sensor to cut fuel and ignition. I disassemble most of the intake and exhaust system to check everything in my car, turbo, turbo control solenoids and still can't fix the problem. I swapped my PFC with a stock ECU and no engine code determine. I almost ran out of options and thinking about sending my car to a shop until today, I decided to pull the HKS Twin Power.

After pulling out the HKS Twin Power, my car run perfectly once again after sitting in the garage for months.

I can not think of the HKS Twin Power went bad because I just don't expect this will become malfunction and I hardly drive my car. Maybe the engine heat caused it to break down. I am running PFC and tuned at 14psi max 2 years ago and only put around 5000k miles after the tuning.

Have anyone had their Twin Power went bad? Will new tuned PFC cause any damage to the Twin Power?

I've never heard of a Twin Power going bad. You might have the first case of one crapping out. I don't think the PFC would have any correlation to the TP going bad.

I had a problem with my ground on my TP, just to throw it out for you.

Ill just assume it hasnt gotten very wet and its mounted in a dry spot.

My Twin Power is mounted securely with good ground. Maybe the location is too close to the engine where the heat may damage the TP. I will leave the car running without Twin Power for few days. If no problem found, I will install it back on and see what happen.

How old are the plugs? I had a simular problem with a different ignition amp and it went away after I installed new plugs. Yours might be fouled.

Plugs are less than 10K miles. I pulled them off and did an inspection and they look fine. I will go ahead and buy some new plugs just in case.

Thanks

I replace mine every 5000km to be safe.
