HKS super dragger exhaust...

I know this guys selling one real cheap, does anyone know if they are any good? at the moment I'm running stock on my FD3s, do you think I should go for it? he's selling it for $400 NZ, thats probably about $250 US.

wiblergt 07-08-04 05:14 PM

better than stock! little louder too.

i'd buy it.

ebecker5 07-08-04 05:45 PM

so , how easy is it to bolt this exhaust system straight up to my FD? the guy selling it tells me there is a flange halfway down the system that it bolts up to and it should only take me an hour to do all this, is this true??

scratchjunkie 07-08-04 05:56 PM

if you had a lift and air tools, this job would only take you less then 10 mins. i would say for you maybe 2 hours though since you are not confident in yourself.

wiblergt 07-08-04 06:45 PM

jack the car up
put blocks/ jackstands under it
crawl under and look for yourself.

you will see 3-4 hangers and two bolts that connect the cat to thecat-back.

if your car has a bunch of miles the exhaust system may be rusty and busted up.

worst case senario, you bust a bolt trying to remove a nut.
find a torch and blast the little bastard out of there.
next you will need to find a bolt and nut to attach the two back together.

it is really simple...
you can do it...
just don't blow yourself up using the torch :D

will

yeah I would go for it. Very very simple installation, not hard at all. If you don't have all the correct tools it will just be time consuming.

right, well this was all going great until this thread, is this true?

ORX705 07-08-04 08:43 PM

if it includes the down pipe, i wouldn't get it for LHD. as it will be made for RHD, so it will have a big dent in it to accomodate for the steering arm

ebecker5 07-08-04 09:26 PM

no it doesnt include the downpipe and its for a left hand drive ( like my car) so its all good

ebecker5 07-08-04 09:27 PM

sorry , i mean right hand drive

Jay7 Nyc 07-08-04 11:29 PM

The HKS super dragger are IMO one of the better
exhaust out there..

and it who ever said it is more restrictive than stock
is an IDIOT..

I paid almost 900 new bak in 93 for mine and I love it
and love it still.

Granted they do'nt flow as GOOD as others, BUT.
When you add a DOWNPIPE, MIDPIPE it really
isn't gonna matter, and a lil more restrictive is a small
price to pay, for a quieter exhaust. and not only that
it helps with boost creep.

my Exhaust with DP and MP and HKS super dragger
is quieter than some Exhaust with just a catback.
IE: Greedy Power extreme, PFS cb, APEX and etc..

the Catback is a easy install. the Exhaust has factory
hanger hook ups, that you can use to hold the exhaust
while you mount it to your Cat. Only issue is gonna
be the BOLTS on your CAT.. probably gona be either RUSTED or melted and gonna be a BITCH to take off.

Good luck

ignore list.

I have this exaust. it is a little louder than stock but does restrict due to the interior. it has a 3 inch inlet but if u look inside its actually only 2.5 inside. we cut mine open and made it 3 inch all the way through and repact it. sound real nice now with less back pressure

FDNewbie 07-09-04 11:40 AM

I used to have this exhaust on my car...and I loved it. It's got a great sound to it. I haven't heard that it's more restrictive than STOCK, but I know it's more restrictive than most other freeflow exhausts.

While I'm at it...if anyone wants it, it's for sale in the part section. :)

Oh and Matty...old school = CLASSIC, man. This exhaust was the hotness back in the day lol.

SlingShotRX7 07-09-04 12:33 PM

Yea I paid, 900 for the super dragger.
But that was back in 93, when it was the only
exhaust available at the time.

and for you old schoolers thats been a around a while.
Post a link to the website that shows all the flow rates
for all exhaust available.. With all the test and results.
Maybe @ lightening in world of thunder or maybe Robs
old site. and that will be proof enough that, who ever
said the super dragger is more restrictive than stock.
Is an IDIOT.

funny how all the ones that " SO " worried about
exhaust and flow rates and restrictions, PROBABLY
still got their PRECAT and Cats still on the car..
The IRONY.
