HKS SSQV probelm
 

Hi all,

My ssqv doesn't seem to be venting at higher revs. It's fine with high boost on the primary turbo but seems not to work after it goes into the secondary turbo stage...

I've fiddled with the preload spring adjustment but apparently no joy. Perhaps a sequential problem. I did have a big leak which I've fixed and the car is much faster now, however still not boosting properly with the boost test from 35mph.

It's not a specific RX7 kit but did have the correct flange on already so i just plugged it in to the standard location, no problem with that is there?

Any ideas?

not suer i have the same setup and it is constantly going off even after playing with the adjustment

Does the adjustment not make a difference to yours?

When fully screwed out on mine it hardly vents anything when you rev it a little in neutral, but screw it in 1/6th of a turn and it blows a huge amount out! Anyone think my BOV is no good??! I bought it second hand... haven't had a problem with second hand ones before...

any ideas guys?! I'm not trying to solve another sequential problem here, just wondering if any of you have experianced this with your ssqv's!

I've got an HKS downpipe to be fitted soon so hopefully that may sort my boost probs anyway, as I'm losing at higher revs! Hopefully my precat's clogged :)

I vave two mounted in my car ,one at the y pipe and one on the elbow and both are working and have only been adjusted when installed .All of them seem to leak,new , at the adjusting screw . To stop the small leak I cut a groove in the lock nut on the lathe and put an O-ring in there .

haven't had any leaking problems but yes if i adjust the screw more or less coems out, but from having BOVs in the past it is working right each time i create boost

mine's actually making the car stall a little at low revs. it doesn't like it at all! Driveable, but I've just put the standard back on and wow what a difference! The HKS set up as it is seems to be just making stall and stumble...

A vacuum issue...?

I've fiddled with the adjustment as much as it'l go each in 1/6th or so turns! So thats staying OFF my car for now...

Think I'll get rid of it for someone else to play with and get a specific RX7 one, hopefully all set up and plug and play...

Does anyone know if these have different internal parts though? Are they car specific or not... I know you can get universal ones, but do the specific ones have stronger/weaker springs etc. or not?! My feeling was not... If they did though, that could explain it... originally came off a soarer

wow ya if it is stalling i would have definetly taken it off, only thing I did was buy a plug to seal up one of the extra hoses that where associated with the orignial BOV

you'll have to recirculate the BOV as you replaced the stock one if it stalls "all the time"

It was stalling on the hks bov, not stock. I've plugged off the air intake now and am venting the stock to atmosphere, apexi intakes. All fine! Just had problems with the HKS... :(

I never had a problem with mine. Installed it, hooked up the vac line, and that was it. I have the screw tightened all the way in.

Just one last thing I can think of before getting rid of it! You both have the screw all the way in, but presumably you both still have the lock nut on there...?? Right?!! I assume you wouldn't take that off but it's the last thought I have!

I'm posting this video link up in a few threads as it relates to a few different things! Low quality but the best I could do... you can hear what sounds like compressor surge to me at arround 22 seconds...? this is the 3k startup procedure though so there wont be any boost at all really! Hence this isn't damaging?? It doesn't flutter when it's warmed up as far as I can tell...

Is this ok anyone? Or is it likely to cause damage... only does it with the HKS BOV, not the standard.

FD uses a MAP system, recirculate will not resolve anything as that is all pre-throttle plates.

Only reason I could a BOV causing stalling is if there was some kind of big internal leak on the SSQV so your vacuum line running to it created a vacuum leak post-throttle body.

Have you looked at the video on youtube? What do you think of the noise at 22 secs...? Problem or not? Only flutters with thre HKS BOV, not the standard.
