High temps after oil change

I have read through many oil change threads and suggestions on oil but some people swear by the castrol GTX 10w-30. I was running redline oil before but I didn't do the change. The previous owner put it in and i would stay around 180 and if it was warm as high as 190.. this is with the heater running. Sitting still today in 60 degree and sunny weather with no cars infront of me, it shot up to 215 (the water temp) .. i did this oil change yesterday. It is 3/4 up the full meter on the dipstick so oil levels look fine. It idles like normal.
I was not driving it any differently and most of the time I am driving in the 2500-3500 rpm range (its an auto).
Car has 67k miles on it just fyi.

Is this GTX stuff just going to run naturally hotter temps and is it still safe?

Are you measuring oil temp or water temp? If you are talking water temp, the oil isn't responsible for the change.

That is what I was telling myself as well. I was reading and like hold on here.....

Castrol is good oil. So your normal temps are 82c to 87c which are normal operating temps, I thought even 87 was the normal operating temp. 215= 101c which is not out of the operation range but is hot.

Maybe you are due for a coolant flush.

The stock fans don't even come on until 221F/105C, so 215/101C isn't really that hot for the stock system.

thanks for teh answers.. oh im sorry for the confusion.. i was just meaning water temps were higher, but yea it didnt go above 215 at all .. mostly 210.

On a side note... the RX7 died today and i cant get it to start, then my 2005 GT went into fail safe mode.. now im driving the 96 accord.. come on honda dont fail me now :).
The rx7 is alternator related i believe.. the battery is new!

Oh well i am tired of cars today, but there is always tomorrow
