Hi, this is my first post on this forum.
I've got a '94 FD3 with 142K miles on it. It's running pretty good, but I've got a couple of things that I need to fix. I work on cars and motorcycles all the time, but I'm very new at the RX7 My clutch pedal travels about an inch before engaging the clutch. It's very hard to get it into 1st gear and I must double clutch it. I'm assuming that I might as well replace the clutch Master & Slave Cylinder That seems pretty easy. Does anyone have a recommendation of where to buy these? Mazda? I've looked around this forum for places that might sell these parts, but most of the vendors that I find are for engines and high performance parts. I really like this forum and I am learning a lot about the RX7's and I am really looking forward to working on this car. I've got some oil leaks that will get fixed next. Thanks PJ |

Please read the stickied links, they contain tons of valuable info, as does the archive section. The search function is also a very useful tool. If you read the FAQ thread, you will see where to buy parts and other things. Please download the Factory Service Manual (FSM) from the stickied Tech Directory thread before buying new parts, it might save you money. |
Mazdatrix for replacement parts. They're in Signal Hill and should be able to get the parts out to you pretty quick.
Find records on the maintenance the previous owner(s) did on the car. You might need to look into engine/turbo rebuilds/replacements. Check the vacuum hoses... they should have been replaced by now. If not, replace them. Check the "rat's nest" under the UIM. Check for cracked or brittle connections, hoses, etc. There's a whole list of things to check. Look through the 3rd gen FAQ. I've been reading the FAQ's for a week now and have learned a whole lot. I must have missed the section on where to buy stuff. I'll go back and find it. Yep, sounds like the hoses need to be replaced ASAP. Sounds like a good way to find my way around the engine. My oil leak is at the base of the oil filler thing. I can fix that when I replace the spark plugs. Got that from the FAQ. thanks a whole lot PJ |

I had a similar issue with my clutch once. That was the same symptom I had before the clutch fork broke and left me stranded.

Actually, I'm the original owner.
Car is driven mostly on mountain roads. Mostly hard braking and lots of shifting and throttle kindof stuff. A little expensive on tires. |
