Hi I'm a n00b here

Hello All,

I am looking into getting a 94 rx7. One of our family friends is selling it, and it only has 35k miles! I was looking at getting a rx8, but saving up so I could buy it in cash, when this car came around! So I have some knowledge of rotary engines. I also have a great family friend who has his own shop and works on rotaries. So just saying hi to the community, and I will be around poking my head in here and there.

I think the size of my wallet is the direct inverse of my happiness. But I will be buying it in cash, woot woot. I will do some of the reliabilty mods, a boost gauge, and get used to the speed, which I think will be a bit more than my ford contour.

welcome noob :)

Buy it before I do. I'd kill for a low mileage FD like that. I got mine with 39K.

Welcome! its a real find with that mileage. sounds like you got it made with a family friend who has a shop and works on rotarys. it will be a big help when you start sorting out the little bugs these cars have. I know my wallet took a big hit the first couple of years of ownership. good luck and post some pix's of the engine bay....

Update!!

Due to a busy schedule on both sides, I finally got it checked out at the shop, and got to take it for a quick spin!

The clutch is firm, but not rock hard. The car was easy to drive at slow speeds around the neighborhood, the first turbo does not really kick in until you get on it, which is nice. The power is awesome! once you get on it. The suspension is very, but not harsh, going over speed bumps does not hurt, but the one corner I was able to go into, it shrugged it off at speeds that would have the contour on the edge.

My question for the gurus is, can you adjust the height of the steering wheel. I heard that some models had that option, and I was wondering if that could be adapted to one that did not have it.

:wavey: to all your money

Couldn't adjust mine. ('94 Touring)

Actually, i wasn't aware that ANY of the FD's had adjustable steering wheel height.

CantGoStraight 04-27-07 07:28 PM

None of the FD's (US) had adjustable steering wheel heights. That 94 your looking at has the even rarer glass roof panel. Worth 4 to 800 alone if parted out.

hyperlitenerd 04-27-07 07:50 PM

Bummer about the steering wheel, but it is no worse than my contour. I love the sun roof! I have to agree on a price now, and get the repairs that need to be done, then its all mine!

The repairs needed are all fluids belts a hoses since the car has been sitting for 2 years, but nothing too crazy imo.

great find...dont forget plugs, wires, and filters!

Drew- from one noob to another...welcome!
