hey guys!!!

i just registered and im inlove with the rx7's and currently looking around to buy a twin turbo one. im looking to keep it mostly stock and so forth, just simple mods. i live in the NY area and im 18, does anyone know if the insurance for these bad boys are killers? i drive a 92 civic SI and the insurance is pretty up there. and is it possibly to get one for around 9-11 grand? even if it has relitivly high millage? im just looking for a cruise car, not planning on beating it.

Welcome to the forum!

Based on your age, and the fact that your insurance is already "up there", you can expect to get raped by the insurance company. In terms of price, most people will tell you that to have a nice FD, you have to spend around 14-18k (depending on who you ask). You should also know that these cars can be expensive to fix, especially if you cant turn the wrench yourself.

Check out the FAQ stickies at the top of the forum. There is a buyers guide in there that you should read thoroughly, as well as a boatload of useful info.

Good luck!!

like i said im new to the rx7 world, and yes im just looking for a gen 3. i saw some single turbo post's so i thought they came in that too. if anyone has driven a stock 2004 sti, is the power similar? cause all of my friends have picked up some nice cars and now its my turn that a sudden burst of money fell into my hands. there just so beautiful! altho i dont like the tan leather, but for the right price i can deal with it!

LOL. The RX-7 was my only car when I bought it. Adding a civic to the policy caused my premiums to go down (to cover both cars).

btw, your questions are answered in the FAQ thread.

Like I said before, check out the FAQ sticky at the top of the 3rd gen forum. There is an answer to just about every question you have in there, including options, colors, production numbers, etc....

The STI is just shy of 300hp with AWD, and the rx7 came with 255hp RWD. Im not sure which car is heavier, but I would imagine the STI is a little quicker. Get an STI if you want something fast and pretty reliable. Get an FD if you want something rare, fast, and enjoy people staring at you. :)

Don't look for one until you know about them.

This is why we have a FAQ thread and a search function. You don't have enough money to afford one.
