Help...Water temps rising very quickly...
 

I did a bunch of work to the car this week including replacing the water pump and water pump housing with a powercoated one. I re-installed my existing thermostat. I did a bunch of polishing which required me to remove my fans, Fluidyne radaitor and FMIC. I drained all the coolant out of the car. Once I got everything back together I re-filled the coolant and took the car for a drive in the neighborhood. The coolant light came on so I added some more coolant when I got back to the house. I ran the car for a couple of minutes in the garage and the light came back on so I added a little more coolant. I reapeated this process 2 other times. The water temp reading on the PFC reached 115C degrees while sitting in the garage.

What could be the problem? Bad waterpump? Bad thermostat?

Yes, I did a search but didn't find what I was looking for.

I have the over heating problem also, but thats with a motor with shot 0-ring.

fans did come on. I guess I will replace the thermostat.

burp the system, mine was doing it... it took me about 15 times of adding coolant to get all the air out of the system.

try this...

make sure your car is cold.. take the cap off the filler neck.. top off the coolant..
let someone start the car for you.. and you watch the coolant level.. If it starts to bubble and over flow.. you might have a bad coolant seal.. I've tried everything and finally I did this and realized my coolant seals were bad..

Bill a waterpump really cant go bad its mechanical and if the belt is spinning the pulley its flowing coolant for you

115 is getting up there. Once your fans come on it shouldn't rise more than 2 degrees C on the commander. If it does that then you know theres a problem and shut the car off. Get a new thermostat this cooling system is very simple. The way I always get all the air out of the system is by letting it heat up a little and then let it sit for 5 minutes and add coolant. Drive a little more let it shut down and add coolant. I do have an AST though and I'm not sure if you do. If not you'll have to pull off one of the highest up coolant lines to burp it.

Water pumps can go bad, just not like that.
