Help Radiator fan died today

Yes the fans died today. What do you guys recommend? I know the stock fans flow cfm well but they are had to find in good shape. Do you guys recommend any aftermarket fans?

Both fans died? Or just one? Obviously it would be odd to have both die simultaneously and if thats the case it would be best to figure out why.

But yes, fan motors are like $200 new.

They both died.

Where is the fuse to them?

Sprockett 05-31-07 10:15 AM

might just be the sensor/relay that tells them to turn on.

Thomas1277 05-31-07 11:34 AM

where would that be located at

since you have a powerfc and datalogit, what temp are the fans set to come on at? are they not coming on above the set temp?

if both fans died at the same time, then chances are it is not the fans themselves. that would be a highly unlikely failure. Like said above, check the fan control relays, and the fuse. if the fuse popped, find out why before throwing in a new one.

There is a bank of four relays on the passenger side of the engine bay on the wheel well. Test those, the procedure is in the FSM.

first thing i would check is the fuse. cooling fan fuse is in that box just above the battery on the driver side when u open the hood. but something must be wrong to cause the fuse to blow.. if it did.

my fuse blew when i was driving on the freeway few weeks back... reason being my AC fan on the driver side is completely dead. doesn't turn at all, causing a short. So whenever i turn on the AC, the fuse will blow and cause both of my fans to malfunction. After i replaced the fan motor.. everything's back to normal now.

the relays, like Mahjik mentioned.. are the 4 rubber square things mounted as 2X2 next to the intake on passenger side.
