Help with Purchase Price

93 Touring

I am thinking of buying the above RX-7. I test drove it today and listened/looked for all the quirks according to some posts on this site and others. The car, as far as I can see, if perfect (I would have it checked professionally, of course).

He seller claims he has an offer of 23.5. This seems high to me. Any thoughts?

wow, red leather interior...that is indeed a rare combination. I thought they only came in silver tourings but I am mistaken I guess. :)

Snook 04-13-04 09:55 PM

the car looks to have unbelievably low miles or at least garage kept. I see some wear on the steering wheel which means it was driven. it also looks totally stock. It depends on how many miles it has....ok i figured out how to see the rest of the details now...yes I was right it has low miles haha

if a mint 93 is what you are looking for then id pay the price that one is very rare. If you are looking to have a very fast rx7 that one is going to cost you a bundle to get modified since it has 0 on it

MezzChris 04-13-04 10:09 PM

Yeah very few made with the black/red combo.

This car has been senior owned and babied. He also owns 2 Porsches.

I am interested in an all stock/original car, but would like to add only intake and exhaust on my own.

I wish he was asking less.

Also...I plan on selling my SH and paying the rest in cash, but how do you get around the Blue Book Loan Value vs. market value issue?

I'm drooling at the cleanliness.

red interior looks like ass but different strokes for different folks. if you dont believe him about the price/offer from someone else, just dont buy from him. or you can make him an offer adn tell him to give you a call if the other deal falls thru. looks clean and nice though, good luck :)

There are a few other very low mileage FDs out there, see if you can get hold of one. I'll bet 22k is more normal for that car, but it's up to you.

IMO, walk away. I had a similar choice, and took the car. I paid too much.

MezzChris 04-14-04 10:07 AM

Just looked at my spelling in the first post....yeesh.

Anyway, thanks for the opinions. It is hard to walk away from such a cherry, but, like girls...another one always seems to come along......

Any more opinions would be great.

The engine looks pretty dirty for only having 19k miles on it. 24k is a little too much for that car. Personally i would rather have a higher mileage FD for almost half the price. But if i was looking for a low mileage FD, i would prolly pay about 20k for it. Even with that low mileage, still get a compression test done. Also remember, once that car hits the 20,000 mile mark, the value is gonna go down a couple thousand dollars instantly.

MezzChris 04-14-04 01:28 PM

Yeah, the engine was fairly dirty and the seller said he hadn't had time to do a good job cleaning it up. It had been in storage all winter.

Someone find me a low miles, stock RX-7! :)

tt2323 04-14-04 01:45 PM

Yeah walk away...there are many more out there..search around

Sonny 04-14-04 01:59 PM

When you set your search criteria on Autotrader, do the 'advanced search'. It will allow you to specify that you only want cars with 'less than xxxxx miles'.

Maybe I should just get a 350Z. Is that a riot inciting statement on this site? ;)

Black 350Z

Also this FD

93 Red

fastcarfreak 04-15-04 10:30 AM

yeah, get the 350z. At least you will have a warenty. Well probably not with that one. I guarentee that 350z in your post is prolly a lot more then any rx7 you pick up.

Some would say you really can 't baby these cars and with that low # of miles mean it may have been sitting at times, which also is not the best thing for the car.

A low mileage FD that was underdriven and babied is much better than a low mileage car that was driven hard. A babied car is at worst, a rebuild. A hard driven car could have problems with practically everything.

I guess the ideal is a low mileage car that was driven gently about 10 miles a month, away from salty air, rain, or snow. Which is rare to be found, and why I consider most very low mileage cars to be overpriced.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.!..23 is too much for any Stock FD even if it hasn't been driven :)....Chances are, if you are on this forum you are planning on modding it...You will end up like me...Buying a high dollar stock car and then spendind two times as much on mods..>My advice is to find something clean that's already been modded and has a fresh rebuild...
