I am thinking about buying a 3rd gen. rx7 , but my friend keeps scaring me saying that they heat up alot and that they dont perform as well as supras blah, ... and that they need A FULL ENGINE CHANGE EVERY 80K MILES is that true? cause I really cant afford changing engines everytime the car breaks down and if the rx-7 indeed causes much trouble in maintaining plz tell me so!!. i mean does it really get to the point that you must change the engine no matter how good you take care of it!>>??? :confused: other info I am interested is in performance info on the rx-7. what times does it do 1/4 stock? and 0-60 mph and i dont mean what magazines say and reviews i mean the real thing while you ran your car hip rx7:cool: down the road. cause 0-60 mph in 5-6 secs is to darn fast for me believeing it unless you guys have proved it

only an inexperienced jackass would tell you that. there are plenty, and i mean plenty of similar threads in this section. drive one, and learn it, and it will not matter if the fuckin' car breaks down once a month, cause it is more rewarding than a supra will ever be. trust me, i have driven both.

it is your choice though. i know what i would tell you though. and that is buy it and take car of it, and it reciprocate its joy........ :-)

Honestly, if you compare it hondas acuras and toyotas, the rx7 is a very high maintaince car. Most owners of their rx7 had to suffer rebuilding their engine because they did not perform reliability modifications to the car. One of the reasons why the engine has been known to cause problems is because of the Pre Cat. Just spend a few hundred on a midpipe and your car would be just as reliable. Most owners had to change their engines by 80K, some by 50K. A rebuild will cost you around $2000. If youve got the money to buy a used Rx7 and have $2000 left over cash then i'd say go for it. If you just barely have the money to buy the car, i would for sure hesitate on that.

These are high maintinence cars, if you don't have the money to keep it up, don't get one.

Personally, I think my car would do a mid 4 in 0-60 with full exhaust and ecu.

obviusly makes me think in buying one :(. anyways can anyone explain me the non sequetial issue wich is better and what is the diff?

I mean what should be done to the engine if you wanted to run smoothly and how much would you say you soend monthly in your car? (3rd gen rx-7)
