HELP! Over heating problems...
 

My car keeps overheating like crazy on a hot day. I have an FD with a stock radiator and don't have money for an aftermarket. What was happening is all my tranny fluid kept of coming out of the sides of the radiator cap so I replaced it with a 1.3 Bar ARC rad. cap. This seemed to solved the problem temporarily. Now when ever I gun it on a hot day, I can see my needle on the stock temp gauge rise and I don't want to blow anything. Nothing seems to be coming out, its just the temp rising is starting to scare me...
Does anyone know why it keeps doing that? It even happens at night when its cooler...

:confused: :confused: Take your car to an RX-7 shop and have them fix it, it doesn't sound like a problem you could handle fixing on your own.

sorry to say, but it seems like the coolant seals are not intact. Might be time for a rebuild. Might not be though, could just be your water pump and AST

If you can't afford a better radiator, at the very least replace your thermostat. The stock radiator is fine for normal driving as long as it isn't clogged, but if the thermostat is stuck you'll overheat no matter what. What is happening is your coolant is getting so hot it is boiling over, thats why it came out. The higher pressure cap raises the boiling point which helps this (and helps your engine), but you need to keep those temps down. A new thermostat is only about $10, and while you are at it flush the coolant and refill it. Some like 70/30 because it transfers heat better, while some like 50/50 because it has a higher boiling point and more corrosion resistance, you can't really go wrong either way on that imo.
