Help with Non Starter

Hey guys,

Well i finally got my JDM model FD the other day, and as expected it doen't start, Im led to believe by the vendor the car over heated which was the reason the motor blew.

The thing im concerned about now is the noise it makes when you pull the starter, there seems to be no attempts at ignition, no spluturing, just a spinning sound and a odd single pop from the exhuast.

Im gettin ready to tear down the engine now and do a rebuild im assuming coolant (side?) seals have gone !

If however there are problems with the eletrical or ignition systems i would like to know before the new engine is in place.

So basically does the above sound like the behaviour of a engine that has lost compression due to Coolant seal failure ?

Would a compression test be of any use even if i can't start the engine on a Rotary car?

Also i couldn't see any oil in the coolant and the engine oil looked Jet balck not frothy at all.

I haven't had chance to examine the ECU yet either

Many thanks for any input / opinions it is much appreciated.

do a compression test while spinning the motor with the plugs out put the wires on the plugs and ground the plugs and see if they are sparking , listen for the fuel pump . If there is spark and yhe fuel pump runs the ecu may be good
