HELP: Need Facts About Apex Seals
Is it true that apex seals from rotaryaviation.com wear out rotor housings faster than apex seals from let's say atkinsrotary.com? Does anyone know the comparison between rotaryaviation.com's apex seals, atkinsrotary.com's apex seals and good old OEM apex seals? Thanks a bunch beforehand for the help guys....

Basically, like this:
Soft - Atkins Normal - OEM Hard - Rotary Aviation Rotor housing will wear no matter what, its the nature of the game. However, harder seals cause increased wear over softer seals (as one would expect). |
just like piston rings:
Cast iron Steel Chrome Molly Harder material will give better seal but wear faster due to their hardness. |

Airplanes stranded due to engine failure usually don't have the opportunity for a rebuild. |
jkstill...nice humor ... you are correct though, there's mandatory inspection every certain # of hours (depends on the type of craft)...maybe we should start using something similar for our cars eh?
