Help me find HKS RS Intake..
Hey guys,
I have been looking everywhere for the HKS RS intake for my 94...But damn, prices on these things are outrageous...they range from $500 to $700... So I was just curious if you guys knew where the best place to find the cheapest one would be? I will also take a very slightly used one... Let me know where you guys picked yours up at and how much you paid please... Thanks, Shawn |
why not get another, more available filter?

I am currently sporting the Greddy intake right now...But I have just always wanted the HKS RS...
Everytime I see the HKS setup in a pic on someone elses 7...I just slap myself...wishing I would have just bought it the first time :wallbash: |

Just buy the Super Megaflow for $245 and throw the yellow filters on it from the RS and there you go...lol Nopi.com sells the RS for around $520.

Racing suction is the polished aluminum piping instead of the ghetto ass cast the Super Megaflow uses... I do believe it is routed slightly different, but the major difference is the airflow based on different piping. You can buy different color filters to put inside the dome cage of the HKS intake
|
Racing suction has polished solid piping while the super mega flow has a little plastic tube.
|
Make me an offer, may trade your Greddy ones, don't really need it but I'll sell them
if i go ahead with single. |
nvm just realized thats a RS setup with green filters. do the RS intakes use the super mega flow replacement filters? it looks like they are the same thing...
|
same filters different colors
|
good, the super mega flow filters i can get for 25 bucks a piece, very economical, cheaper than K&N. im getting the RS eventually with a DP and fmic and a standalone to accomodate the mods soon. do you think the RS will clear a greddy 2 row fmic? it looks like it has one of the best intercooler piping clearances of any of the other intakes i've seen. do they all have that heat shield too? or did you make it? it looks like those vented headlight covers would be very effective with the racing suction system.
|
It will clear any i/c set up.Its used with the HKS V-mount system which is probably the biggest i/c kit that sits in the engine bay....made the heatshield, 2 peices the main one to block the heat from the radiator and another one
to cover the gap by the radiator hose and bolted to the chassis rail |
hun intresting, is that second one below the main one that you can see in the pic?
|
yup, after hard drive, the heatshied is very hot but the mesh on the filters are cold,
I guess it works |
very nice, wish i was as handy as you, i'll probably copy your design with some aluminum sheetmetal, its kind hard to see your mounting points though, did you do a lot of drilling into the side chassis rail? i assume you have a RHD drive being in NZ and the placement of your master brake cylinder. lucky you.

yeah, the HKS SMF doesn't include all of that hard piping though
|
i have to say i really like the hks rs...and if i do say so my self im rather fond of the "moo", or dyeing kangaroo, or whatever you want to characterize it as....but other then that..it really amplifies the sound of the stock BOV's so they sound nice and aggressive:D. lol.
oh yea baby!!! also your replacement filters is that including shipping if not superautobachs has them for 20 bux..i believe they are the 120mm replacement..and they are many color arrangements...take ur pic |

Correct, IF you install it how it's supposed to be installed, but like I said mine was modified to accomodate the radiator and FMIC so all that's left of the intake is the hard piping... It's just not as appealing as the RS |
the rs also costs around 500 dollars, which practically is crazy for an air intake. but its pimp as hell and looks really cool so that makes up for the lack of practicality performance wise for the dollar.
|
I agree about the price, but I am sure for the performance and for the name that it becomes a SOMEWHAT reasonable price.....
|
well, of course its a top quality intake, with a top quality name but a lot what you pay is just that, because you can get 95% of the performance if you do it yourself for around 30 dolars by buying your own k&N filters and make your own piping, or even the cheap bastard intake mod will get you the majority of the airflow. of course neither of which are remotely as nice looking or finished as a HKS intake.
|
Good luck in your search, I just found one in the UK for £180 second hand :D They retail at £450 here!
