help me with coolant leak please!?
hot day, car was fine in parking garage, came back an hour later to find a big puddle of coolant under the passenger side headlight area of the car and it managed to spray around the engine bay towards the nose of the car and event on the front bumper a little.
any ideas? |
check the 2 radiator hoses on the passenger side first (sounds like from where its leaking it could be those). And then the 2 small hoses underneath the air pump in front, sorry for the bad description but if you look you will know what I am talking about.
|
upper rad hose was busted near the top---> replaced it, and coolant reservoir tank spilled from the bottom--->quick fixes anyone, so i can make it home with the car?
|
Are you sure your coolant revervoir tank is busted or was it just overflowing?
|
i poured coolant in straight from the top thinking it was alright after i fixed the hose, then drip drip drip straight from under it.

Either way, just as long as you get your radiator hose fixed, you can drive the car. Just fill the AST and the filler neck ALL the way with water/antifreeze and you can get home. Once home, you can diagnose the problem whether it be a cracked reservoir or what. |
you can physically see the tank's bottom in the nose vent/ air dam on the passenger side, i asked my wife to pour a little coolant in it to see where the leak is coming from and it dripped (more like poured right back out) straight from the bottom of the tank itself...now if it was overflowing, logic would tell me that the leak would be located somewhere higher than the very bottom of the tank.
let me know if i could be wrong  |

Then take it EASY going home(no racing all the rice boy civic's I'll be seeing when I get to Norfolk airport September 6). How far are you from home? Hope it's not a cross country trip;) |
10 minutes away,
don't even mention civics, i came across Ultraspeed (you might know them, big honda/ acura group round here) tonight at Frankie's (place for ribs) while having dinner with my wife and mom. it was like civic mania...you should have seen the look on their faces when a friend of their's showed up in a supra revvin his car a lil to utilize his bov--->lifted up the hood and surprise, surprise a stock motor lol!!!!:D they were like: oooooh, ahhhhhhhh it was hilarious, made me wish i had my car on hand so they can hear my HKS bov at low boost. too bad we were using my mom's 2002 corrolla. i thought to myself, gee my mom's car has probably as much hp as some of their civics |
hey you know what else, my mom's house is located right behind the airport across the lake
its where i grew up |
Aw man, you'll be FINE!!!
I used to work for Frankie's place for ribs in Virginia Beach...used to get high then deliver ribs...:yum: Either way, I'll post a thread in the NE section about my return to VA Beach...Hope to see you Lerch32 and everyone else when I get back home!:D |
you gonna be here to stay? what about the ride if you do?
|
How do you check the hose coming from the AST to the overflow tank? Is there anything you have to take off?
