Help, I'm overboosting with a manual boost controller
So what I did was take off the 2 tubes on the nipples one to the turbo and one to the wastegate.
Then I got some 9/32 fuel line and hooked one end to one nipple and then ran it to the car and hooked it up to a bleed valve. Then I hooked another end on the other side of the bleed valve and back into the car and on to the other nipple. I tried opening the bleed valve all the way and closing it all the way and I am still seeing rediculous amounts of boost. In fact I was getting way less boost without the boost controller. I know since I am running the lines so far from the motor to the car I will not be able to have as much of a lower boost but what I am getting is unacceptable. I had some extra fuel line and I wrapped it up in loops about as wide as a basketball and tied it down in the motor. Could this be affecting it? Was I supposed to put the pill from the line back into my fuel line? I have no idea why I am getting so much boost. I'm fairly certain that everything is secure and nothing popped off. I have also heard of people using 2 bleed valves. One for the prespool and the other for the boost. Where would I connect another one? I have read the rob robinette site a lot and I really don't understand everything he is talking about with the boost controller. I just want to run low boost I don't want to pop my motor while I keep testing out my boost controller that isn't working! I have intake, dp, mp, cb, fuel pump, pettit unlimited boost ecu, streetported motor. thanks for any tips Snook |
Doesn't sound like you have it in the right place. The bleeder valve should be in between the hardline and the actuator attached to the turbos. One is for wastegate, the other is for prespool.
Yes, having too much hose will cause problems. It should be no longer than it needs to be. |
I'm sure many have had luck with the Home Depot special, but I could never get it tuned properly and it continued to spike on transition. I put in a Profec B and you can set boost anywhere you like. You've got some expensive mods there don't kill the whole thing tying to use 5 dollars worth of parts, just my 2cents.

Is this how you have it setup?

The Home Depot valves work, they just require some tuning. Well worth the $220 you're going to save.

I am installing an electronic boost controller and it comes with an electronic selonoid that controls the boost (standard stuff). I know I need to hook it up inline into one of the nipples coming off the turbo just like the first pic shows in this thread, do I hook it up to the passenger side or drivers side turbo nipple? Just making sure I dont f@$k anything up, thanks fellas-B

It goes in the shorter of the two lines. You can't miss it....... unless you're Snook.
