Help identify a wire
3 Attachment(s)
I noticed this was broken tonight when I was working around the area.
It seems to split from the harness via a white connector clip and heads under the motor. I haven't been underneath yet to see if I can find what it went to, but I was wondering if anyone knew off hand. Here are the pictures: |

Oil level sensor wire?

Where is the sensor underneath the motor? I can run a new wire no problem, so long as the wire isn't 100% ripped out of the sensor.

I think that sensor is on the driver's side of the oil pan. You might want to check the FSM. As long as the wire isn't pulled out of the sensor, you should be able to connect both ends without an issue.

It is on the passenger side of the oil pan. I've seen many that break off to the point were you need to replace the whole thing.

With my luck I'll be replacing the sensor, everytime I've had a wire rip out so far, it's been right from the back of the sensor or clip connector. Thanks guys I'll get under it today and start searching around.

The oil level sensor is on the driver's side of the oil pan, just above the engine carriage. With the oil drained from the oil pan, you can remove the sensor by taking out the three mounting bolts. Just ease it out so that you do not damage the float mechanism. Depending on how much wire remains, you may need to dig out the material that surrounds the wire in the sensor. You should then have enough length to solder on a new length of wire. You can then fill the cavity with JB Weld and it will be good as new. Put some shrink wrap insulation around the wire if it looks like the solder joint will be exposed.
