Help, Help, Help! Overheating
 

Just replaced my water pump with a factory reman due to a worn bearing and now the car overheats before I can get half-way down the road. I have tried the best I can to get all of the air out of the system. I let the car idle for about 5-10 minutes with the cap off so that the thermostat would open up and the coolant would flow throughout the system, but it dosen't seem like it is. Doesn't the fluid normally seem to dissappear if you are watching when the thermostat opens? I also had my heater on during all of this but it didn't seem to be getting warm either. PLEASE HELP IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS?

Also, before I changed my water pump it ran pretty cool.

if you see the fluid level drop in the thermostat housing while running, then you need to poor more in. You should try and keep it topped off completely. the level drop is from teh air coming back out of hte engine when the thermostat opens.

Search for threads on "burping" the engine. There is air trapped in the engine resulting in what you are seeing.

When i put a front mount mount on i used flex hose for the radiator which you can't squeeze to bump the coolant. Just top it off...run the car to operating temp (shut off immediately if the coolant buzzer goes off) let cool...top off again. May take many attempts but should work. I did this over a few days until full
