HELP - headlights quit working!

Wierdist thing happened to me today-

I drove from my office to pick my gf up from work, and my headlights worked fine.

When I left her work and tried to turn on my headlights and got nothing. The funny part is that the lights still pop up when I use the manual flip up button on the dash, and when I pull the turn signal stalk toward me, the high beams come on, but the low beams dont work, and pushing the stalk away from me doesnt turn on the high beams.

Is there a different relay for the main head lights than the pull on the stalk lights?

Anyways, when I got home it worked again?!?

MY radiator is leaking and the fuse box that is on the front frame rail is damp, so I am guessing that the water on that box is the culprit (I hope)

Ideas?

Dude there is a thread on here now that has the same problem to sum it up check your right wheel well and there should be a wire going to the lights suposedly there is only a piece of plastic holding it up and it breaks the wire rubs on the wheel and wears out. the next thing they said was a bad relay it is on the left hand side as you look at the engine bay rapped in rubber. there was somthign about a short too but i cant remember it take a look they had just about everythign covered. i dont know how to send it to you but it is in the 3rd gen forum good luck

FWIW,
I have *exactly* the same problem, if your still hunting :wallbash: it turns out my switch built into the headlamp control stalk is "bad". mazda is quoting around $300 for a new "combination switch". yeehaw. I'm hoping to find a used one.
Till then, I have a solar powered FD =)

-peace!

I have the same problem. When I turn on the headlights I can hear a clicking sound. Is this the relay? If so, which one is it?

I had a similar problem this morning when I got to work. It was raining, and just after i got into the parking garage at work, I turned my headlights off and then they started "winking" as if I was rapiddly pressing the button that keeps them in the upright possition.

I parked and turned the car off, and it continued to wink. So I just disconected the negative battery terminal.

They stay up and work if I turn the lights on, but as soon as I turn them off they start going crazy again.

Anybody else have this issue?
