Help!! Fuel Gauge not working + others

Today I decided to do an inspection of my fuel pump and bumped into a couple of things :

1. Apparently the shop that installed my hi-flow fuel pump managed to stripped down the fuel pump assembly little screws, thus I couldn't open the assembly at all. Any suggestions how to handle this?

2. After no luck opening the assembly, I plugged the fuel pump relays back (2 cables). But now, i don't have any readings on my fuel gauge. The needle drops far below the "E". Did I mess up something here? Without the gauge working, is the fuel pump still working fine? I test drove the car for about 10 minutes and it still ran OK.

I am pretty sure the fuel gauge is not related to the pump in any sort of way. The gauge itself should use some sort of float to measure how much fuel is in the tank. Maybe it fell off when you were messing around with it.

Disconnect the ground back at the fuel pump and see what the guage reads with the car in the on position. They may have bent the float inside the pump when they installed it, it is easy to do if it flops around.

The fuel guage has nothing to do with the pump. If you drove at all then your pump is fine and you have a guage problem.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I found out that the ground cable was the problem (or so it seemed). I cleaned the terminals and it the gauge runs fine now.

use vice grips on stripped screws, replace them with alan heads

try this......take a dremel and make a straight channel so you can get a screw driver on it. and get new screws.
