Help cooling issue

Ok so, I fill up coolent it holds temp great. I drive for a while sut the car down and coolent comes out the ast overflow. Alot too I have to add coolent after turning off the car twice. Any thoughts on what is going on?

Coolant comes out of the overflow tank, or out of the AST?

VizeFD 08-08-08 12:25 PM

ast. But i cant say that some has not come out of the over flow in the past

Mahjik 08-08-08 12:29 PM

Coolant should not come out of the AST. Either your AST is cracked (if it's plastic), you have a faulty clamp or hose, or you have a faulty cap.

the vent tube coming off the top is a vent right? how would the cap affect it?

In case you haven't seen it in the FAQ thread, excellent thread on the cooling system is here:

it comes out of the overflow on the AST

VizeFD 08-08-08 02:30 PM

so, is the top fitting on the AST just an open vent or is it run to the overflow tank?

VizeFD 08-08-08 02:49 PM

ok got it. The hose was not connected to the overflow bottle. What would it mean if it overflowed and bubbled out of the overflow bottle?
